Yes, there are several mistakes in your 'analysis'. And by the way, you should read Rearden Metal's post above more carefully before commenting. You just stuck your foot in your mouth pretty good.
I'm aware of the racism defense however, I don't give much weight to it as there are far better reasons to make pot illegal. I'm curious to know as to what mistake I made in my analysis as I can't catch it at the moment. Seriously, I'm not perfect. Point it out if you see it!
Allright, I caught the error myself... The problem came from this line... "10 micrograms per kilogram of body weight" Unfortunately for some strange reason I read it wrong.
HERE IS THE REVISED ARGUMENT: I donât know the actual answer but letâs do a little comparison: marijuana vs. alcohol! Before we begin we should try to determine which drug is the most potent; meaning which drug will intoxicate you more using less substance. âCannabis has psychoactive and physiological effects when consumed. The minimum amount of THC required to have a perceptible psychoactive effect is about 10 micrograms per kilogram of body weight.[47]â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_(drug) So 1 microgram is 10 to the -6 of a gram or 1/1000000 of a gram. Assuming an adult male who weighs 100 kg you would need 1/1000 of a gram or a milligram to start feeling the effects. Marijuana is a solid, generally 1 gram (g) will get you stoned (give or take depending on the individual). Now some say that alcohol is way worse than pot. Sure enough, consuming large amounts of alcohol is very bad but letâs do the appropriate conversions in the appropriate units. Alcohol is a liquid and after all, you have to compare apples to apples! So 1 gram (g) actually equals 1 milliliter (ml)! 1 g = 1 ml As such, one gram of pot (1g) needs to be compared to one milliliter of alcohol (1 ml). Obviously, once you have done the appropriate conversions you can clearly tell that pot/marijuana is a far more potent drug than alcohol. As it is highly unlikely that you can get drunk/intoxicated from 1 ml of alcohol even if it is 100 proof (100 %) alcohol. The same is true for cigarettes. By the way the average marijuana plant is only 4.47 % THC. And alcohol varies from 5-12 % for wine and beer to 40 % for âspiritsâ. So as, you can tell, marijuana is definitely more intoxicating for the same unit of mass of consumption. If anyone sees other mistakes, post a correction please. I still think the argument is valid... Got to go now...!
No, you're still missing it. Honest question, please don't be offended - is English your first language? Here's a hint: read the first line of RM's post.
Fuzzy math. Marijuana is not 100% THC. ... THC content of marijuana, which averaged less than 1 percent in 1974, rose to an average 4 percent by 1994. For the highly popular form of marijuana called Sinsemilla (from the Spanish "without seeds"), made from just the buds and flowering tops of female plants, THC content averages 7.5 percent and ranges as high as 24 percent. As for hashish, a resin made from flowers of the female plant, THC levels may be five to ten times higher than crude marijuanaâs. ... from http://www.acde.org/common/Marijana.htm
No it isnât fuzzy math. Youâre correct when you point out that marijuana isnât 100 % THC. The first part of my post deals with the âactive ingredientâ in pot which, happens to be THC. The second part deals with pot/marijuana itself. You will notice that I pointed out that the average THC content of pot is around 4.47 %! QUESTION: How much, THC is in one gram of pot? Give the answer in (mg)! ANSWER: Well 1 gram (g) = 1000 milligrams (mg)! As such, we multiply .0447 (thatâs 4.47 %) with 1000. We get 44.7 mg of THC in one gram of average quality pot! With me so farâ¦!? OKâ¦! Now how much THC is required in order for an individual of around 100 kg to feel the psychoactive and physiological effects? According to the first part of my previous post only 1 (mg) milligram! Now that should be an eye opener to most of you. Letâs take this a little bit further and compare pot to beer because beer has about 5 % of the âactive ingredientâ alcohol! As such, it compares to pot well which has about 4.47 % âactive ingredientâ. You will definitely get "stoned" on one gram of pot because a single gram of pot has about 44.7 times more âactive ingredientâ than is required to have an effect on a 100 kg person! As we recall from above 1 g = 1 ml. So how intoxicated are you going to get on one milliliter of beer? I think we all know the answer to thatâ¦! Youâre not going to get intoxicated on 1 (ml) of beer. Youâre not even going to get intoxicated on 1 (ml) of pure 100 % alcohol! I can go further with the math and give you more proof if you guys like!? My conclusion is that pot is a far more potent drug than alcohol. It intoxicates you with a much lower dosage. As such, the regulators have it right. Keep it controlled!
Fuzzy math. Do you really smoke a 12 pack of weed? No! I'm not a regular smoker but if I take 1 or 2 light tokes from a blunt I'm good for the day/ night. At the point in my life when I smoked the most I would smoke half a pin joint or a few bong hits. I would much rather be riding on the highway with a weed smoker then with a drunk. The use of the term "halucination" is improper. It's not like someone is seeing things that don't exist. The true effects of smoking weed are feeling mellow, relaxed, diminished pain for those suffering from particular medical conditions, etc. I would guess you have not tried it and I'm not saying you should. Everyone is free to make their own life choices. I would rather see weed stores and alcohol prohibition, but we have what society has given us. Now that the ReeferMadness group is confined to nursing homes, we just may be able to get our country back from those who hated our generation because we disagreed with them and voiced our own point of view regarding war, killing of college students for exercising free speech, and for enjoying a nice doobie on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
