Trump asked Merrick Garland: ‘What can I do to reduce the heat?’ before FBI warrant was unsealed, report says ‘The country is on fire,’ Trump allegedly told Garland https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...d-trump-merrick-garland-warrant-b2144635.html Donald Trump personally appealed to Attorney General Merrick Garland before the FBI warrant behind the raid at Mar-a-Lago was unsealed, a new report says. Attorney General Merrick Garland said on Thursday that he had approved the search at Mar-a-Lago, and he implied that the Department of Justice (DOJ) wouldn’t have done so without attempting less intrusive actions first. Just ahead of Mr Garland’s statement, an individual in the former president’s inner circle contacted a DOJ official to send a message from Mr Trump to Mr Garland, The New York Times reported. The former president wanted the attorney general to be aware that people around the US were furious about the raid. “The country is on fire,” Mr Trump is quoted as saying, according to the individual with knowledge of the message, according toThe Times. “What can I do to reduce the heat?” A judge unsealed the search warrant the next day, including an inventory of the items collected by the FBI on Monday. Mr Trump claimed that no wrongdoing had taken place, and he also baselessly suggested that agents had planted evidence at his residence. When Joe Biden became president, he stopped Mr Trump from receiving classified briefings that former presidents get, citing his “erratic behaviour”. Mr Trump’s handling of classified information was also a concern among officials during his term in office......
Trump in 'Very Substantial Legal Jeopardy' After FBI Search: Conway By Fatma Khaled On 8/13/22 https://www.newsweek.com/trump-very...rdy-after-fbi-search-conway-1733450?piano_t=1 Conservative lawyer George Conway said Friday that former President Donald Trump could face legal problems after the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Monday to retrieve classified documents that the ex-president allegedly took with him when he left the White House last year. During his interview, CNN anchor Erin Burnett asked the lawyer whether or not he thinks Trump is in trouble after the raid, in which Conway responded: "Yeah, I think he's in very substantial legal jeopardy." "If anybody else had done this, as I said last night on your show, if a national security adviser had done this, if an assistant to the president had done this, if I had done this or you had done this, we'd probably be already charged," he added. Above, Trump speaks at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on August 6 in Dallas. Photo by Brandon Bell/Getty Images The FBI, with the approval of Attorney General Merrick Garland, carried out a search warrant of Mar-a-Lago looking for top secret (TS) and sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) as well as other classified documents. The Washington Post reported on Thursday that records related to nuclear weapons were sought by the federal agents, but Trump has described that reporting as a "hoax." "Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia was a Hoax, two Impeachments were a Hoax, the Mueller investigation was a Hoax, and much more. Same sleazy people involved," Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, responding to the Post report. Meanwhile, sources told Newsweek that the raid was mainly based on tips received from an informer, who identified the type of highly classified documents that were still in Trump's possession and where they were located. Some legal experts said that the former president might be in violation of the Espionage Act. Additionally, The New York Times reported that the FBI recovered documents that included information that was related to "some of the most highly classified programs" in the country. "He had no business bringing top secret SCI materials from the Situation Room or Oval Office up to the residence," Conway said Friday on CNN. Last February, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) questioned whether the presidential records turned over to the federal agency for historical preservation were complete or not. The Justice Department was later asked to investigate whether Trump unlawfully kept national security information. "He had no business having these documents and as soon as the archives pointed that out, every single one of them should have been returned to the government, and he didn't do that. And that falls squarely under the prohibition of Section 793 and the Espionage Act," Conway added. What Is the Espionage Act? The Espionage Act was first enacted in 1917 shortly after the United States entered World War I. The law bans individuals from obtaining "any information related to the national defense with intent or reason to believe that the information may be used for the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation," according to the First Amendment Encyclopedia on the Middle Tennessee State University's website. The law also applies to the improper handling of sensitive information related to national security and imposes a punishment of a fine and/or up to 10 years of imprisonment to those who violate it. Former violators of this law include the Australian WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange who could face up to 175 years in prison for 17 espionage charges after allegedly helping former U.S. Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning steal thousands of classified diplomatic cables and military files. American whistleblower Edward Snowden is also facing espionage charges and could face up to 30 years in jail if convicted over leaking highly classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) concerning global surveillance programs.
"signed a written statement in June for the Department of Justice, claiming that all classified material held at Mar-a-Lago had been returned" Trump lawyers now admitting they had classified documents all along.
Bro, you’re struggling with this. When in the weeds never hook your wagon to JEM/SmallFil. Your trading has gone into the toilet.
1 - There were no classified documents. 2 - And if there were any, the FBI planted them. 3 - But Trump declassified them, even though there weren't any. 4 - Regardless, the non-existent, declassified documents, planted by the FBI, were all returned earlier. EXACTLY WHICH ONE?
Does the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago implied that the FBI did not believe the lawyer that ALL classified materials had been returned...as a signed written statement by Trump's lawyer stated in June ??? This also implies that the dimwit Trump did in fact hold the documents at Mar-a-Lago and I wouldn't be surprised if he made "copies" prior to returning the originals and that's what prompted the raid by the FBI to ensure he did not make copies after the FBI heard from an insider (someone that still works with Trump at Mar-a-Lago) that copies where made. #espionage #traitor wrbtrader
Hillary is one bad-ass woman....she can make grown men cry like babies. Trump launched a late-night attack on the FBI after latest damaging Mar-a-Lago revelations Taking to his Truth Social account, Trump aimed multiple accusations at the FBI including "was there a 'plant?'" He first stated, "The FBI gas (sic) a long and unrelenting history of being corrupt. Just look back to the days of J. Edgar Hoover. In the modern era, nothing has changed except that it has gotten far worse. Look at Comey, McCabe, Strzok and lover Lisa Page. Check out the brilliantly written but damning I.G. Reports. See what they were willing to do in order to get Crooked Hillary Clinton elected (they failed), and got caught!," before adding, "They spied on my campaign, pushed the FAKE Dossier, and illegally used the FISA Court." "The Inspector General said the FBI acted with 'gross incompetence and negligence.' I was fully vindicated in the Russia, Russia, Russia SCAM, the 'No Collusion' Mueller Investigation, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and all else," he continued. "NOW THEY RAID MY HOME, ban my lawyers and, without any witnesses allowed, break the lock that they asked us to install on the storage area that we showed them early on, which held papers that they could have had months ago for the asking, and without the ridiculous political grandstanding of a “break in” to a very storied, important, and high visibility place, just before the Midterm Elections." He concluded, "The whole World was watching as the FBI rummaged through the house, including the former First Lady’s closets (and clothing!), alone and unchecked. They even demanded that the security cameras be turned off (we refused), but there was no way of knowing if what they took was legitimate, or was there a “plant?” This was, after all, the FBI!"
“Former president Donald Trump’s stubborn refusal to return highly classified material forced the Justice Department’s hand, resulting in the execution of a search warrant at his residence. But while it is possible the DOJ merely wanted to retrieve and secure the material that Trump refused to give back to the government, if they decide to press forward with charges, their case looks quite strong,” Politico reports. “The government initially treated Trump with kid gloves when he took government property, including classified documents, with him after he left office…” “If you or I had some 21 boxes of potentially classified information in our home, the Feds wouldn’t ask for it politely or even issue a subpoena. They would have taken possession of that material right away, and we would face serious charges.”
