Avraham is the source of our covenant with G-d. that covenant we carry with us today. that is not true for christians, you have your own covenant (as it were) through events that happened at a much later time. nope. G-d did.
Same God , same stories, same prophets, up to the death of christ and the acceptance of Jesus as the son of god....while christians accept jesus as the savior, jews are still waiting. ========================================== That was my above comparison that you laughed at.....yet i clearly say that BIG difference is the acceptance of jesus as the son of god......thank you for proving my point ......and bare in mind that jesus was a JEW!! and so were all his followers......so, Jesus and the acceptance of him IS the big turning point in beliefs....
You are arguing like a woman with her period.....you know exactly what I mean but are choosing to pick and choose words and semantics....well since it was god who led you out of Egypt, it must have been God who led you into the gas chambers in nazi germany right??? using your logic??
you're not getting. there is no possibility of the existence of a son of G-d. we cannot accept that which cannot exist. we are waiting for a man.
not at all. if the christian covenant was with Avraham, christians would all be circumcised. they are not. christianity is a separate faith. we do not share the same notions of G-d, nor of heaven, nor of hell, nor of "salvation", nor of etc etc etc. however, i must admit i am delighted you want to draw yourself so close to Judaism.
...is this an example of JEWISH behavoir??? anything for a buck? http://www.jewishsf.com/bk030815/usp33b.shtml
that's one of them, and it certainly colors so many other perspectives but that is a very very long discussion. everybody keys in on different issues, for me the single biggest difference is the widely - but not universally - held christian belief that the only way to "salvation" is through jesus. apart from having radically different notion of "salvation", Judaism accepts that all peoples have different ways to come to G-d. Judaism does not claim to be more "right" than any other faith. we believe it is right for us. others - the "70 nations" - must choose their own paths. we do not proselytze because we don't believe others need "saving".
