obviously not if we're talking about it. many christians certainly accept the term, but most jews do not. if you really think the concept is fine, try using the term christo-judaic - same thing, no? - with your more ardent christian acquiantances and see how they react. christianity and judaism are separate belief/ethical systems.
Same God , same stories, same prophets, up to the death of christ and the acceptance of Jesus as the son of god....while christians accept jesus as the savior, jews are still waiting.
lol, you went wrong on step 1. judaism is strictly monodeic, the very idea of G-d having a son is completely apposite to the most fundamental tenets of judaism. for jews there are no "parts" to G-d, no matter how mysteriously they are joined. which of course means we don't look at the prophets in anything resembling the same way since xianity turns to prophets as reason for jesus-as-g-d etc. but don't stop trying, i think we could all learn quite a bit about this. how about the afterlife? do we share a common conception on salvation, heaven, hell, etc? edit: just want to be clear i'm not saying Judaism is "right" and anything else is "wrong". it is also a fundamental tenet of judaism that there are many "correct" paths to G-d. this is just the one we happen to be on. we're just talking about differences here.
No wonder Moses gave up on you out in the desert and through the 10 commandments at you.....nobody can read and you have no faith....I give up, your right, our ethical and belief system is totally different and Im pretty sure if Moses could do it over again he would have stayed in the pharaoh's mansion and let the hebrews in the mud pits..
would that be the christian in you typing such loving thoughts? thanks for at least trying, you demonstrated nicely why the phrase in question is used by christians but not by jews.
you didn't answer the questions though.....are the hebrews waiting for their messiah? Is Abraham not one of the greatest prophets ? Did Moses lead you out of Eygpt?
the hebrew term is "moshiach". and yes, Jews are indeed waiting for the moschiach. well, for the most part, there is some debate whether the moshiach is an allegorical or actual concept, but for the most part, yes, we are expecting him. what we do all agree on is that the moschiach is a MAN, not a G-d, not a son of G-d etc. he cannot be a G-d because, as i posted earlier, we believe there is only one G-d and there can only ever be one G-d. so we are waiting for a man. i don't think christians feel quite the same way.
