^ Those arms that move, are they designed to break contact and stop the transmission, or is it like a complex grounding rod?
Nic was first......the other guy is a copycat. (He did this as a publicity stunt, to prove electricity (AC) was safe
Trivia aside, Bulk Grid Transformers and /or generation problems are a serious problem that are going to cause people to die. There is no white knight coming. If you don’t have a Plan B, get one now. BUT what I am seeing new is that local distribution grids are now in as bad trouble, or as in my region even worse shape, because of supply chain problems for basic electric distribution equip. My next door neighbor works the line crew that installed a second power service drop for a new need I had well away from the main house. I talked to him about how the project engineer beat around the bush about only approving a 100 amp service for the new site. My friend looked me straight in the eye and quietly said I should take the 100 quick because their distribution co had NO 200 amp transformers left in their inventory. IN FACT, THEIR DISTRIBUTION CO DIDN’T GET ANY NEW POLE TRANSFORMERS INTO STOCK IN THE LAST HALF OF 2020 AND ALL OF 2021. Think about that for a sec. Their order was pushed out almost a year to 2022Q2 with a hint that could easily disappear entirely. He confided that their workers are scouring their system for disconnects where transformers were not recovered. They are hosed and Top Ute Mgmt is hiding the problem. He told me that if we just have one more ice storm year like last, there will be dozens of homes at least that will be dead out of electric for MONTHS OR EVEN LONGER just from the shortage. Any ‘events’ beyond your normal background weather problems are going to be very nasty, widespread wake up calls and people are going to get hurt. I’ve seen a lot of people in the energy biz top to bottom. He is top drawer and works in this every day. He just dropped $25k on one of those outdoor, whole house heat, wood boilers … and even they are getting hard to get. That speaks volumes.
Not to mention impact of the cis-Martian asteroids, should China decide to divert them from their orbits so they would impact Branson MO, the seat of American culture.
piezoe, mars aside and considering the electrical infrastructure supply chain woes cited above, and considering the YUGE amounts of FIAT sunk into Who Knows What, it would be imprudent to whistle past the graveyard of a world without elecricity. Canasta with friends, looting and starvion are only Good Times! and Invigorating! for a limited time. It would age poorly imho. https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials These crooks are too busy running from accountability to even realize wtf's goin down. Call their coddled asses up and tell them what you think. Pro Or Con on the grid infrastructure upgrade Bill that's a non-starter as of now.
We need Grid "hardening" and infrastructure spending on the electrical grid. I am with you on that. The amounts proposed on combined infrastructure and BBB Bills over ten years are only <300B/yr. Minuscule, considering the return. Compare that with the 4T spent in Iraq (up to now, it's still increasing). Anyway you look at it this infrastructure + BBB looks like a bargain. I hear people saying we can't afford it. Truth is we can't afford not to do it. And it is too little at that.
