Originally I was looking for another Golden, but I seemed to hit in between the breeding cycles, and most of the places I found nearby were reserved out a litter or two anyway. My wife had an employee tell her about her Aunt who runs a rescue near us. They have a facility in Mississippi where they take in animals from kill shelters and send them up to Wisconsin. We saw him on their website and went to meet him, which pretty much locked in we were going to adopt him. He is a talker as I guess Huskies tend to be. He barks some, but more he seems like he is talking. Sure enough the day after we brought him home one of the Golden breeders near us calls and says she had 2 people back out and we could have one of the puppies. As much as I wanted to say yes, I knew I'd have my hands full with this guy. Kind of sucks as I really miss our Goldens, but maybe down the road we'll add another pooch.
Now that's a pretty pretty dog. Look at her eyes lol. If she's got pit, boxer, and Australian Shepard in her... that is one smart pooch. It looks like she has webbed paws. (Looking at her left rear). Not all do. I bet she likes the water if you give her a chance. Edit... oh ok, I just read your other post. The eyes are from a Husky, not a cattle dog. Makes sense. Regarding "he wants to talk".... the smart ones always do. You just have to work with it and you'll be amazed. Edit 2: I just went thru this thread, I had forgot your journey. He's getting bigger.
He is definitely bigger, he weighed in at 72 pounds the other day, and I would guess it is a lot of muscle. He is roughly the same height as our goldens were, but weighs 15 or so pounds less, but is significantly stronger. I am debating buying a small sled to see if I can have him give me a ride in the winter. He loves the cooler air and really loves running in snow. The talking is hilarious, especially in the car when he looks out the window then back at me driving and starts barking and the talking, like he is criticizing my driving.
The shedding isn't too bad, at least compared to our Goldens. I think he has a lot of the Husky characteristics. Over the summer in the heat he seemed to shed noticeably more than he did over the winter and as it is getting cooler now he seems to again be shedding less.
As of now a foster, but wife is well past hooked. She's roughly 5 months old from Texas. Knows her name, sit, down, shake, and war with her potential brother.
