With good behavior he will be released in , like 7 months , good for him. Jailed for Life for Stealing a $159 Jacket? 3,200 Serving Life Without Parole for Nonviolent Crim A shocking new study by the American Civil Liberties Union has found that more than 3,200 people nationwide are serving life terms without parole for nonviolent offenses. Of those prisoners, 80 percent are behind bars for drug-related convictions. Sixty-five percent are African-American, 18 percent are white, and 16 percent are Latino — evidence of what the ACLU calls “extreme racial disparities.” The crimes that led to life sentences include stealing gas from a truck, shoplifting, possessing a crack pipe, facilitating a $10 sale of marijuana, and attempting to cash a stolen check. We speak with Jennifer Turner, human rights researcher and author of the new ACLU report, “A Living Death: Life Without Parole for Nonviolent Offenses.”
Speaking of the ACLU they've been mighty quiet about all the civil and constitutional rights violations occurring from people accused of rape with no evidence by the #metoo broads, combat ready government goon squads kicking down doors of non violent offenders, sweeping investigations which have nothing to do with original allegations and the general trial by media and twitter mob environment we live in.
Yeah... you ever mention that most of these prisoners have lengthy criminal records and were sentenced under three strikes and you are out laws. You are not going to find much sympathy from their lengthy list of victims or from law abiding citizens for these prisoners.
So, when do we get to the part about Mannafort flipping on Trump? Or do the twenty pounds of daily tard posts on that not amount to anything in the end because a tard does what his morning media matters package tells him to do?
Three strikes and you are out is part of the state and federal sentencing guidelines. If you have a lengthy criminal history then you set a long sentence.
Mannafort should be pardoned or commuted for his federal crimes. I know they have state stuff on him but that is a different matter. He may be guilty as hell but the discovery of his crimes are all "fruit of the poison tree" and the judge knows that and it is reflected in his sentencing. The government launched a bogus investigation against trump upon a bogus dossier and other made up evidence/allegations and then used that as a basis for investigating all of the business dealings of his associates. All of the investigations can be traces back to fbi/gps/dossier/fisa made up stories. Howz that prosecution of Carter Paige coming along? Oh, I see. It was never about Carter Paige, he was just a useful ruse to get a fisa warrant. The prosecution tried to counter that by telling the judge that mannafort was on the justice departments radar screen before all of that. Bullshit. Yes and no but bullshit. Mannafort was looked at for various crimes when Mueller was FBI director but they found nothing that they could prosecute. But the reason the went back and did another investigation under comey is for political reasons flowing from the that whole fbi/fisa mess. If not for that, they would not have gone back again to look for crimes. The judge did as best he could for Mannafort under the circumstances. He was the victim of a witch hunt. He committed crimes but the examination of them was set in motion for political reasons. The lefties argue that something is no longer a witch hunt if you find any crimes. Total crock. That is the very nature of a witch hunt. You have political reasons to look for crimes and you just keep going until you do. Mannafort should have to forfeit all proceeds of illegal activities, which is multi-multi-millions, and then released. The government should not be rewarded for witch-hunting. The judge knows this and, again, his sentencing reflected it as best he could.
I'm not disagreeing w/the 3 strike rule, I'm asking if the sentencing guidelines for Manafort's crimes be damned? Or do we only care about sentencing guidelines for 3 strike minorities?
