Allegations that Manafort was Trump's mole in the Mueller investigation will have consequences

The “mole-in-the-Mueller-investigation” subplot, meanwhile, will have consequences for all involved. It is now impracticable for Mueller to call Manafort as a testifying witness in future trials. But if Manafort has provided information that could help convict other targets of the investigation, Mueller will be unable to use said information in a court of law (though it could potentially be used in an impeachment hearing). Obviously, this could hamper Mueller’s efforts in certain respects.

  2. Wait, I need to have a downloadable app to follow the fake news.

We had months of how Mannafort had allegedly flipped on Trump and so Trump's private parts were going to fall off etc.

Now, the fake news is that Mannafort has been a mole for Trump who cannot be used by Mueller.

Wow. Fake news generated while you wait.

Every day updates come out revealing further information about the Mueller investigation; new indictments, pleas, and court filings. The left-wing media herald every minor update is a game changer that will surely lead to the indictment of Trump. They breathless push their latest opinion on why today's events are dangerous to Donald Trump.

Pulling back the curtains and objectively evaluating the facts reveals there is nothing showing a pending indictment involving Russian collusion involving anyone in the Trump family. The only risk seems to be federal election sanctions over Trump's payments to Stormy -- but this is something that is typically settled with a minor fine.

I will wait for the conclusion of the Mueller investigation - I have always stated the investigation should proceed within the scope of its charter. However there needs to be a fixed end date where the investigation will be concluded; the government should not continue to fund a perpetual, endless investigation. At this point the Muller investigation should wrap up quickly within the next six months or be de-funded.

  4. Yup, the election campaign thing is not an easy dunk for the government though if push ever came to shove. It is an area where Trump's past bad behavior actually helps him. He has a history of payoffs long before he was a candidate so that bolsters the argument that it was not some attempt to circumvent campaign laws. It is so minor though, I dont doubt that if the government wanted a civil penalty settlement he would just shrug and treat it as a cost of doing business.

Ironically, Hillary is the one who would not want to see Trump pursued on that charge. She is sitting there with some MAJOR, MAJOR campaign financiing/filing issues related to money laundering of individual contributions though the DNC-which she bought- knowing that there was an agreement that all individual contributions would immediately pass to her thus circumventing individual contribution limits to candidates. She is definitely not looking to see any environment shape up where people think that if it is fair to roll Trump over on campaign financing, it is fair to examine hers. No sir. Not desirable when viewed from Camp Clinton. Then there was that little ditty where Hillary funded the GPS/Fusion thing but declared it as a "legal expense" in her campaign financing so as to hide the operation and to be able to assert atty client privilege when asked. Nope. Another area where she does not want people looking.

Than you should support every law enforcement investigation gettting a fixed end date.

Let's be clear -- my comments relate to political investigations which are usually undertaken to undermine a politician rather than pure law enforcement investigations with no political angle.

When it comes to political investigations I believe that they should have an assigned end date and defined maximum budget. If the investigation goes beyond the end date then the investigators should be forced to apply for more time and additional budget to continue -- clearly stating their reasons on why this is needed.

Quite a while ago on ET I mentioned that the endless investigations done by Congress of the Clintons should have had an end date and be fixed in scope. Similarly the only only legal investigation related to the Clintons that should have had no end date was Whitewater since it was a case involving a huge mountain of paperwork to review -- and they stated from the beginning it would take significant time. And I will note the Whitewater investigation strictly stuck to the charter and scope of investigating Whitewater; unlike the Muller investigation which investigating & locking up people for crimes totally unrelated to Russian collusion.

The political investigations (witch hunts) from both parties that have occurred in America over the past decades have cost more in budget and lasted far longer than any active non-political law enforcement investigation ever undertaken.

Trump Russia is more important than an Arkansas real estate deal and more complicated.

Whitewater turned into a witchunt into Clintions sex life trying to prosecute him for a consensual blow job.

The scope of Mueller's investigation is collusion and all crimes revealed as part of the investigation. It's in the Rosenstein mandate for all to read.

Also, Mueller seized enough assets from manafort to pay for itself twice over. Wait until they start seizing Russian and Trump's assets.

The Whitewater investigation did not investigate, prosecute, or indict Clinton for the Lewinsky affair. Let's keep our history and facts straight.
