Thats not his house, thats one of the most expensive houses in Omaha. The slideshow is on what it would cost to live in some of the nicer places near where billionares live, not about their actual homes. Caught me for a minute too till I went to the first page and read it a few times.

Maybe he just enjoys what he does? Doesnt anyone do anything simply for the joy of doing it?

  5. Remember the ET rationale: If somebody has a net worth of > $10, $100, $1000 million then he must party with dozens of escorts and do lines on their butts every weekend otherwise he's a complete nutcase.

How boring a life is that? Immature losers only need apply.

As for the foods we eat, that's where all asset classes equal out. The rich and ultra-rich can afford some designer foods that are out of blue-collar reach. But, no one can live on caviar and crystal. Some have tried, but the poor nutrition will lead to an early death.

I've had the pleasure of cooking for a number of millionaires who could eat anywhere = anything they want. When served simple fare dishes like grilled venison tenderloin, fried potatoes with onions, green peppers and green tomatoes or crockpot macaroni & cheese with homemade salsa (variety of cheeses added) they have all to a person raved endlessly. Two of them now have their housekeepers replicate the dishes, and each is worth more than $50 million easily.

My #1 favorite food of all, and a huge hit with everyone who tries it? Cardoons fried in egg, flour and cheese patty. Think potato pancake with a vegetable similar to rhubarb = celery mix. Add some old-country Italian twists and the people who try it (multi-millionaires included) cannot get enough.

Know the best part? Cardoons are a novelty vegetable in this country, found only in a few specific stores that cater to ethnic foods. The substitute we use here are burdocks. That's right... the early growth stalks of a plant which matures into pesky stickers you pick out of pets and clothing.

Burdocks, dandelions, leeks and fiddlehead ferns. Most who try them would scrape caviar and pate` from their plate to make room for these free delicacies when prepared correctly.

  9. I noticed that after a while, too. Poorly written by Forbes I think.

Joe Paterno is another guy like WEB. He is worth millions but lives in a modest house and drives a modest car. He gave $30 Million to the college for a library when I was there too. Guys like that have it figured out. When you're buying a bunch of crap you don't need, its really not fulfilling. They each do a job they love and that's their satisfaction. When you find a job like that, the money just rolls in.

  10. BTW: Yes, he owns NetJets, but has his own Gulfstream. He says he doesn't like "perks", but his own jet was a must-have item he didn't think he needed until he got one.
