Hi Vivian, I admire your courage and candidness. Trading is a challenging enough endeavor unto itself. To add to the mix, to what is in your mind, that other people (especially from the anonymous public) might think negatively of you based on your posts is perhaps extra pressure you might want to re-consider having. If youâre feeling really terrible as a result of it, I think itâs your guts telling you something important. Please donât ignore them. If youâve been following your trading rules, I believe this present draw down is temporary. And by the way, IMHO, now is probably a good time to reduce your position size just a tad to 1) stem the current equity hemorrhage, 2) to regain your footing and confidence and 3) reduce the stress. Best Wishes Kermit
You guys have a absolutely exellent point and I have noticed in the back of my mind putting a little extra preasure on myself. but im not going to let it effect my trading. if i don't post a statement the next day, its probably because im feeling bad (us women have feelings) but ill eventually post every statement until i eventually win my bet or lose or quit. thanks for the posts, they have been very helpful and thanks from you guys on the pm's. vivian
good afternoon to everyone: there was to big of a gap between the close of the june es emnin contract and the close the of sept es emini contract and my lack of experience didin't know how to interpret that gap. so I sat out today and didn't trade. front month change scares me a little. vivian
Nothing wrong with that. On rollover days like today, I just put up both the June and the Sep charts side-by-side. The June chart offers some perspective for the Sep chart. Usually by 10 or 10:30, thereâs enough meaningful bars for me to work with and go forward in my setups. Kermit
its actually a very good idea not to trade on roll over days, i always find them to be more difficult. I use a lot of the previous few days price action for my entries and i'm always nervous to switch to the new contract and use the previous days action when there isn't much but i'm not sure what else i can do, other than not trade the rollover days. So i would say you made a wise decision. Pierson
a small profit today. I was short for the whole day so there were times I though I was going to have a very good day and times I though I was going to give it all back. Being a Mechanical trader, my system doesn't tell me to do anything in between.
viv, Could you imagine making this every trading day? If you could tighten up your risk somehow and lower your expectations this could be an interesting twist to your system. However.... Some say the most successful traders are the ones that get a big win and several days with small losses. I just don't think the ES gives that much anymore, to pay that way IMO.... Sorry for giving advice on your system that I know nothing about...Perhaps it does not need fixing, you seem to be doing fine...it was just a thought. Michael B.
