So you are trying to compare the reactions of police in two totally different locations (states) when facing two very different types of events. The event in Minneapolis involved wholesale violence, rioting, looting, arson, and gunshots. Explain to me what the video of the state capital shows protestors doing?
Since the University does not pay the full cost of using the MPD -- it is likely that the Minneapolis Police Department will be gleeful about this change.
I have a family member who was a cop.He said the private security details was the best part of the job.More pay for easier work.The University may not be paying but the cops weren't working for free.I don't know if working University details was private detail pay or overtime pay but I doubt the cops doing the easier work for more pay are happy about this.
The university budget including the pathetic event budget is published... Go find me the line item where they pay a dime for the Minneapolis Police Department to assist them. The university only pays for its campus police force.
