The first thing that popped into my head was that someone else could have loaded his chair, and helped his into his car?

How does he drive? Again, didn’t get a good look but I didn’t see the normal hand controls up by the steering wheel.

I can understand someone with severe disabilities needing help from time to time but I’d like to believe that most people like to live their lives without being dependent on others as much as possible.

I would want to be able to load and drive myself.

This was bothering me so I took a close look thru the video and enlarged it, the driver does have hand controls, I didn’t see them on a quick look which was why I had doubts.

While the driver refused to exit the vehicle even with the police officer offering help, in today’s environment you just can’t do that.

Regardless of disability, you still need to comply but the officers were over the line here.

    What does that even mean?

chair/bed bound people can't be man handled like that....all kinds of skin/bone/joint issues go wrong due to lack of mobility. Shit that can go unnoticed/unattended due to no feeling.

Shelve your emotions for a minute.

Regardless of someone’s disability they are still required to follow a commissioned peace officer’s instructions.

At what point does it become resisting arrest? 15 minutes, 1 hour, 1day.

The officer’s should have handled the situation differently, but at the same time the driver should have complied with the officers instructions, let the officer help him exit the vehicle, it would have ended very differently.

Officer’s are trained to control the situation, believe it or not it saves lives. When you resist instructions it only compounds the situation.

Surely we can understand him not wanting to be manhandled by some random cop ... especially with their reputation "in today's environment."

He was probably concerned these untrained "peace officers" could cause him harm, as they would not likely follow his instructions on how he should be removed.

[Que up the video showing cop violently yanking obviously pregnant woman from car ... even though her seatbelt is still on.]

They said there was a child in the back seat, very possibly old enough to handle a chair assuming he was not just on an errand and did not plan to exit the car until helped back home.

In today's environnent meaning everyone has to be assumed to be carrying a gun so at risk of their life encountering police? Yeah, great environment that one.

Only lawful 'orders.' And not if they could likely result in death or great bodily harm.

what emotions? You're the one brining up "today's environment". I'm merely stating facts paraplegic people face.
