This is one of those scary statistics that reveal the United States has a serious problem with Policing and a serious problem with criminals that have access to guns. Just as scary, it's an annual repeat statistic that has the United States on top of the hill.

I came to the conclusion about 25 years ago the problem can not be fixed and then decided to start my family in another country to minimize any encounter with the police or with someone else that has access to a gun.
    • My first and only encounter was in Tennessee while driving from Kentucky in my officer military uniform (dress greens) being pulled over at gun point and then being told they never seen a Native American in the military let alone as an officer. I was only allowed to leave because there were other military officers (including an MP) in the car with me.
I grew up near tough neighborhoods in South Dakota, Illinois, and Kentucky. Never had a police officer pull a gun on me until after college, in the military and while I was in uniform. He was not thanking us for our service.

In contrast, I've had criminals pull a gun on me in my youth when I traversed through tough neighborhoods...
    • The funniest encounter was a midget (dressed like a pimp) in Wisconsin who pulled a gun on us teenagers when we drove up there to chase girls at a famous party.
Yet, we've recently learned that someone can still die at the hands of the police...knee on the neck or beaten by a gang of police.

Yeah, lucky for Chicago they have strict gun control laws already.

It's not strict. Strict is aircraft, or courtrooms. Or right wing candidate rallies, lol.

I don't know who these 2nd Amendment mouth-breathers think they're going to be up against when it's time to "resist tyranny" or "refresh the tree of liberty". Maybe they imagine they'll be up against evil politicians in suits. Of course the reality is that they, we, are going to be up against the goddamn cops, whose paychecks are signed by the shareholding class. Which is funny because most of them are not even members of that class.

    Tell it to Chicago, lol.
Start there. Clean up their gun control effort. Success is elusive so far, no?
Focus the entire attention and resource base of america that's necessary to implement gun control in Chicago so home invasions and carjackings can occur only by means of screwdrivers, knives, pry-bars and big rocks. Then work out from there.
