But according to you its ok for a person being chased to shoot the chaser if the person being chased is white. Im sure if Martin had a gun and shot Zimmerman you would blame Martin, but you fully support your daughter/a white person doing the same.
Yes... and go read the laws regarding stalking --- you need to have had a previous encounter with the person for it to be considered stalking. "A pattern of conduct".
Let's simply say that I will take the word of the police and the county DA who presented in our community on this subject and were directly asked this question about following a suspicious person in our community.... over any perceived definition you found on the internet for stalking. They stated it was unwise to follow someone but not against the law. Just weeks after this event a homeowner in our neighborhood followed two teen burglars in his car & on foot in our neighborhood trails while on the phone with 911. This led to their conviction and the resolution of an entire string of previous burglaries. No police agency or DA is going to consider following a suspicious person in your neighborhood while on the phone with 911 as "stalking" - assuming you had no previous interactions or history. Trying to define this as "stalking" is laughable.
I referred to what you said, about your state. It's about what the stalked person believes; and it's about the act of following. The person being stalked doesn't know whether the stalker is talking to 911, or an accomplice. Let me put it in a way I know you'll understand. In the same way an officer fears and shoots to death the guy driving while Black, who pulls out his cell phone. So too can someone fear being followed, by someone on the phone with 911. Also, Being on the phone with 911 doesn't mean that the person following you is not a threat. Plenty of people use 'calling 911' as an attempt to enhance their credibility regarding what they have just done, or are shortly about to do. They hope to find jurors like you.
It also comes down to -- "did you lie about the situation like this Sheriff did"? If you lie about a situation on a 911 call then that evidence will be used against you possibly in a court. If the information you provided to an 911 operator is honest & correct then no jury will even consider convicting you for following someone suspicious in your own neighborhood. Of course, I am making the assumption that you do not initiate a confrontation with the person by assaulting them and do not start a verbal altercation with the person. George Zimmerman did not assault Trayvon Martin, nor did Zimmerman confront him verbally. Martin violently assaulting Zimmerman -- leading to Zimmerman pulling his legally concealed pistol and killing Martin. Fully justified as determined by a jury.
You do not know this as fact as only Zimmerman and Martin knows what happened when they first came face to face after Martin was being chased by Zimmerman. We do know you think a white person had the right to shoot Zimmerman in that situation. If its a black person you believe and support Zimmerman though.
