I believe in holding police officers accountable when their actions are not aligned with the law and proper integrity. For example I believed in holding Demeter Chauvin accountable for his actions. The issue today is that there is a rush to judge officers and persecute them immediately after events occur — even when officers are completely in the right. This is coupled with activists completely lying about events to immediately create a false narrative. Fortunately the prevalence of video and body cameras makes it more likely that bad officers will be held accountable and officers who acted correctly will be cleared.
You are welcome to read my previous comments and see for yourself. My stance regarding police has been very consistent for years. Bad cops should be identified and punished. Good cops need to act properly and uphold the integrity of the law enforcement profession. The "thin blue wall" needs to break ranks to expel bad actors. On top of this -- police need to be funded more not less. "Defund the police" - reducing their budgets will only ensure more crime and even worse policing. If you want to improve policing in the U.S. then you will need fund better training, better screening, better equipment (video, etc.) and other measures to improve and "reform" our police forces across the U.S.
