You can't advocate for an extended shutdown and then complain about rising unemployment and economic distress. Well, you can, but you won't be taken seriously by anyone with a shred of common sense.
If this had been handled right from the beginning we wouldn't have this level of rising unemployment and economic distress. Obama had a pandemic team and pandemic playbook in place and was ready to roll at the first sign of a pandemic. Trump...
cons: just the flu, no big deal also cons: why do you want to save lives now that we've let it spread, you're killing the economy!
You're right, it was handled poorly, there was no need to shutdown the entire economy, and yes, Trump bears some of the responsibility for that because he cowered to the panic. The entire government, federal, state and local failed on this one, failed miserably.
actually, federal did an abysmal job, state and local government was a hit or miss, but even some GOP spots responded adequately (Ohio, Maryland).
It is the extreme liberal states like California with a $54 billion deficit with a lame ass opening by Gavin Newsom that will suffer the most. Watch as millions of California jobs vanish out of thin air. Since, the Democrat governors are busy colluding on keeping their states locked down to damage the US economy---they are getting their wish. However, those suffering the most would be the extreme liberal Democrats as they populate those states more. They would be out of jobs and taxes would be raised which they would end up paying too. Can't wait to see the damage to Michigan as Gretchen Witmer keeps her state locked up pretty tight.
You can't make this shit up. Mike Pence caught on hot mic asking to deliver ’empty’ PPE boxes into a nursing home ‘for the camera’ Vice President Mike Pence, in charge of the President’s Coronavirus Task Force, was caught on a hot mic asking if he could carry empty boxes of what had housed personal protective equipment (PPE) off a van and into the front door of a nursing home “for the cameras.” Someone tells Pence, “Those are empty sir.” “Well, can I carry the empty ones, just for the camera?” Pence asks. “Mike Pence pretending to carry empty PPEs into a hospital is the perfect metaphor for who he is and what he’s doing. A big box of nothing delivering another box of nothing.
