There’s nothing comedic about people receiving smaller refunds, or even finding out they owe tax.

People are creatures of habit, many households depend on that refund to get even or get ahead from the year before.

The truth is the withholding tables should have never changed. But the trump administration makes day to day decisions instead of long term decisions. As they were trying to sell this SCAM to the people they took the most conniving measure to front load the cut, increasing people’s expectations. Now the bill is due and people rightly have a sour taste in their mouth.

This was his entire pitch during the campaign trail about the 'forgotten man' and now his sycophant supporters are defending the give away to the rich using the Mitt Romney era talking points. Intelligence is not their strong point.

That's patently BS unless their withholding has changed. The average wage earner took a wage cut in 2018.

Wahhhhhhhh!!! I used to get more welfare from the government in April.
Now they let me keep more of my pay check and I am going to complain because I can’t balance a check book ???
    Wahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

You know who depends on a government check? Losers. Work harder. Work smarter. Save your money.

I’m against all income taxes. All tax cuts are good.

No. You’re not understanding the Trump administration purposely front loaded the tax cuts without properly advising the American people so they ended up getting more in many of their pay checks than they were supposed to based on their previous withholdings.

It was a scam to calm down public concerns over the massive tax cuts in the bill for the wealthy and businesses.

This is not good governance, it was shady the whole way through.

  6. For honest discussion smaller refund checks could be due to :

    1. Lower taxes means less is taken out of your paycheck which means a smaller overpayment which is all a refund is, returning overpayment of funds once all deductions have been taken into account at the end of the tax year.

    2. Decrease in allowable deductions means you pay more in taxes so your refund is less

    3. Changes in income and Schedule filings on your own return could affect final tax obligations. This is personalized so it is hard to generalize across all taxpayers.

In other words there is more to the story than tax refunds only being looked at.

My accountant can take me whole picture and show me my tax liability and show me what I would have paid the year before assuming all the same and different tax rates from the new law. However, each ytear I have so many different new income sources and deductions to take advantage of it becomes apples to oranges.

So I am not sure how to accurately assess how the new tax law positively or negatively affects the lower middle and upper classes on an even comparison....

  7. All I know is I'm writing Uncle Sugar a smaller check this year than I did last year, and while I don't like paying taxes I am grateful to have the money to write that check with no real impact on my bank account or standard of living.

Same. It’s still outrageous but it’s better than during the Odumbo years.

  10. Poor Desty, all that money and education with the emotional state of a 14 year old. Did you know he can bench more than me too. Wow, impressive. Nothing more pitiful than a man child. Too think desty rails against Trump when in fact they would both score the same on an emotional and maturity level test.
