It is complicated too. Macron is leftest but he and his ilk are more tolerant of and keep putting the welcome mat down for the Sharia crowd. So over time you can arrive at more right wing fundamentalist via the actions and policies of the left than from the right. Or at least there is an argument to that end that is not lost on many of the French and does not go away anytime soon.
