The candidate we elected is nothing like Macron. I get what you are (trying to) say(ing) but it's not anywhere near the same thing, and what the French will get is actually what we prevented - when it comes to immigration.

I'll bet the French in Bourgogne, Champagne, and Côte d'Azur-Corse (among others) wish they had an electoral college and Paris wasn't speaking for the whole country.

Maybe the idiots voted that way because they were Idiots? :) But there's one thing for sure, we won't know if the idiot that was voted in will actually help the idiots who voted for him.:D

  7. France had a chance to elect a Trump-like candidate, but instead chose a rich, white businessman with no government experience

They've incorporated the burn and rebuild mentality. The only problem is that once burned who knows when it will be rebuilt?

Yes, education is a good indicator of common sense. Just look at the governors of the Federal Reserve.

  10. * rich : may be he won't be too money thirsty, as he has already assuaged his own greed
    * white businessman: he surely must know what will help businesses thrive and what will encourage businesses to hire ( just think of it 15 000$ handout / hired person; 20 that is 1/3 of a million quid).
    * no government experience: may be he doesn't yet know how to fleece the taxpayer ( as obviously the Le Pen family has learned to do with the EU-parliament bonanza as judges are now investigating)

You forgot to add: "present well", as more than 70% of Ladies are said to have cast a ballot for him as he "presents well"!!!!

actually doesn't Macron share these same characteristics as Trump ( minus the female appeal) ????
