You may also sense that you'd be better off looking at real-time bars at selected times, rather than continuously.

So I'm looking for MacOS software that will announce time periodically and at specific times.

Seems there's several smartphone apps, but the few MacOS apps I see don't appear to do this.

MacOS Clock can announce the time, but the GUI surprisingly limits config to the hour and quarter hour. I had expected this to be configurable via OS files, but alas Google searches are fruitless, so far.

Any suggestions ? I'd think lots of people would find this a quality of life improver.

It seems like the best strategy would be to have the time announced on your phone instead of through MacOS, so that way you aren't tied to your desktop to get those notifications. I use an android phone and what you're asking for could easily be done by setting alarms using the clock app built into the phone by default.
