Macd

  1. Hi AMT4SWA,

Which do you find to be more important? The absolute value of the MACD or its trend. For example, if you are looking for a zero crossover buy on the 5 Min, do you want to see the MACD on the 15 to be greater then zero, or is a upward moving MACD (below the zero) on the 15 OK as confirmation of the buy?

  2. Trend 75% of the trade entry decision....MACD value 25% of the decision.

Sent you a PM in regards to my MACD postings.

  3. I read you on MACD: (no slo 12,26,9). OK for the first 25%.

    What about "Trend"?
    :D

  4. Well the "trend" direction (for the 15 min...as related to the question asked) is about 75% of what I try to "read" from the MACD. The actual MACD value (1.01, .78, .04, etc) only makes up about 25% of overall "reading" I get from using the MACD....this is just how I use the MACD for my styles(s). Many times though I do use the MACD as a trend reversal indicator or a trend initiation indicator (when the MACD comes out of a sideways tight range just prior to the opening of the cash market).

  5. hi amt ...dont now if u can aswer this .!!..if i was to have a zero line cross as a long signal on the 5 min chart but the 15 min showed down trend u would not take this trade?....and do u always look at the 15 min in conjunction with 5 min for zero line crosses with he macd..as i thought u only did this when the macd showed a trend change to a previous fall/rise for large point gain?..ie you use macd to confirm the 5 min mainly for trend changes?.....

  6. Generally I make sure that I take 5 minute chart trades in the direction of the 15 min chart trend....but not all the time. This is one area where "discretion" enters this type of trade style and I have a rule that I follow for this. If you watch the two charts together realtime you should be able to pick up when the 15 min would "allow" a 5 minute chart entry in the scenario you described. I/A/W the PM I sent you, that is the best answer I can give to you NZ.

  9. I had to pull everything off ttrader as a result of an agreement I signed over the last couple of days for a new venture that I will be involved with. Everything that is here already should be fairly easy to understand anyhow. In the end your "psychology" is the ultimate ruler of your destiny....not the "system" you use.

If you have questions then just send me a PM and I will as always answer as best I can.

    Good Fortunes!
