hey this is kind of off topic from what u have going on but what u think about JAVA? from looking at the MACD, its positioned as a short sell to me. what do u think will happen in the next day or two?
MACD looking tired, a 105 to 113 box, 2 trendlines meeting around 100, other AG's quite weak today.... Soooo.. doing a trigger short just under 105.. looking for 5 points short and probably going long under 100 on any white bar or 91, regardless of the bar.. Also if it runs to 112 in the morning will short there.. May reverse tomorrow and go to 115 but who knows..
Today it was.. Tomorrow it's under today's low.. 281 FSLR is a MAD stock so anything's possible as it is VERY news sensitive.. upside..? I see things 300 to 310 area..
Hi, Retire45: Your return this year is very impressive! Thank you for sharing your journals... I have a few questions if you have time to reply: 1) Do you also day trade? I thought you are a swing trader, but your trading log in covestor seems to suggest that you also day trade? 2) If covestor is not accurate, may I ask how many trading transactions do you usually have on an average day? 3) For your swing trades, do you place a limit or stop order in advance at key levels (in case you are not around when the price trigger happens) or do you always watch the stock and place the orders at the real time? I try to figure out how can a part time trader be able to enter / exit without being taken out by the market maker. Thanks!
I see, do you generally just keep trailing the stop to the previous days low and exit when your stop is hit or you reach heavy resistance (300 - 310 in this case)?
Covestor is Accurate.. I am ashamed of how many daytrades I do.. maybe 1 or 2 a day.. They are never planned but forced by poor entries or stupidity. I dislike daytrading and I have a full-time job though I am my own boss.. Most trades entries are preset (not live until triggered) to work automatically... the exits are another matter. Don't trouble yourself with the market makers if you are looking for points rather than fractions. You have more important concerns.
Hi, retire45: Thanks for the quick reply! I am new to Covestor, so I can't see your trading log prior to 6/16 to figure out a couple more questions I have. Again, if you have time to answer, it will be appreciated! 1) Do you know roughly what's your W/L ratio? 2) If not, do you win less frequently but with much larger profit than the loss or do you achieve small wins frequently? BTW, it is very encouraging to know that you are able to trade so successfully as a part-time trader in tough time like this year ! Also, it is nice to be your own boss...
1. I don't know. 2. Definitely not frequent small wins.. A few (25%?) nice trades make or break the week.. This week not looking good as a result of CLF (was careless on management - most of the time I don't use hard stops) and MXC (did not know the stock).
