For reasons that are too dull to explain, I need to pick up a trading workstation tomorrow. That means 1) Not building it myself. 2) Not ordering it from someplace. 3) Gotta walk into a store and pick one up. I'm considering Mac Pro, although I will be using it to run Windows7 natively via BootCamp. Anyone out there with experience and opinions, one way or another? Thanks.
i've used vmware and parallels on several different macs. Both are VERY slow. Too slow for trading. I don't know about bootcamp. If it works I would love to know. Just found this: "if you don't want Mac integration, and just want to run Windows, go with Boot Camp. It's faster than a PC anyway." http://www.mactech.com/articles/mactech/Vol.24/24.02/VirtualizationBenchmark/
I run xp on my macbook pro with bootcamp, Works great, much faster than vmware. I run tradestation and IB simultaneously without any problems.
