Mac laptop + Dell monitor?

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by Jayford, Jun 17, 2008.

  1. Does it make any difference if the monitor is a mac or not, to run on a mac?

macbook pros use Nvidia video, but I'm not sure if it runs in a different way.

    Gnome?

Seems a few years back, monitors would be describes as for "PC" or "Mac", or both...

Today I think you should presume a new monitor will work on either unless stated otherwise.

  3. That's what I figured.

    Thanks.

Just make sure you get the correct adapter. After the macbooks came out, the mini-dvi/mini-vga adapters changed. I had to return mine to get an updated mini-dvi adapter.

  5. My 24" Acer works with my 15" MacBook Pro

  7. You can now get "illegal" software that lets you run Mac's latest OS on a straight PC box!

    I know huh.

The "Mac" displays use the same Samsung LCD's as the Dell displays. Apple has a nicer design and material, but its not worth 2-3x the price IMO. Also, the Dell displays aren't too bad looking.

  9. Now that's BLASPHEMY! :)
