So what can a person do with a M.A. in economics? I mean this is a trading forum and it won't directly make you a better trader but for someone who wants to pursue a career as an economist in the private sector, do you really need a phd? Most phd's stay in academia from what i gather. I've seen jobs with the gov that require a masters in econ., cia for an example, but i haven't seen too many in the private sector. Anyone have any insight? Thanks!
A masters in economics is often the same coursework as a phD minus the doctoral thesis. Its like climbing Everest and quitting at 1000 feet below the summit.
There is also a few applied M.A. programs out there that have different coursework than the terminal M.A. you'd receive if you just dropped out of a phd program after the first year or two.
