Average. Which means lower than average for some and higher for others. More like 15k additional cost for 100k average price home and 45k additional for a 300k home. Or scale something along those lines. Similar for higher prices in East (where real people live ) and West Coast.
Yes, in the rest of the world it is called concrete, lol. Until recently I did not even know that building homes with wood frames and walls is even a thing. Until I arrived in North America.
LOL "58.9 % of homes in Japan are built from wood, including log houses. It is not just the love of the natural material that has shaped the architecture – log houses are an excellent choice for seismic areas because of their high earthquake resilience, which is considerably higher than that of stone, brick or concrete buildings. The corner joints of log houses pull tighter or wedge when the building vibrates, making the construction more stable. “I grew up in Kawasaki, Greater Tokyo area,” Rina tells. “My family home was built from wood. Timber is the most commonly used building material for family houses in Japan. City centres are the only places where wooden buildings are not as common, while rural areas and mountains are filled with wooden houses." http://www.dores.lv/news/charm-land-rising-sun-interesting-facts-houses-japan-3/
Yeah, not in any cities in Japan. Also, most frames in new homes in Japan are not wood frames. But old homes in the country side are made of wood. Never lived in a wood home in my entire life until I moved to Canada. By the way I never claimed there are no wood homes elsewhere I said I did not know it was a thing.
"Until recently I did not even know that building homes with wood frames and walls is even a thing." If you find yourself in a hole ............
