    Demonstrated by whom and where?

" As we have previously noted, these states, and others that rely heavily on federal assistance, tend to have modest tax collections and a relatively large low-income population."

    https://taxfoundation.org/states-rely-most-federal-aid/

And the states that you mention, pay for their OWN aid and have high income populations to support those policies unlike conservatives who cry about welfare but force others to subsidize them while being ungrateful.

We have discussed this point many times. The USA Today article and many spending studies refute it.

Let's limit the definition of federal assistance to Welfare, Medicaid, Section 8, Food Stamps, and other social benefits. Counting unwanted military bases (which are a drain) and crop subsidies (which actually are forwarded to corporations in blue states) as federal assistance is absurd.

Your USA Today article is about New York spending ITS OWN MONEY on it's own citizens enabled by voters of that state and even after their generous social spending, New York still manages to be a net donor in federal spending. On the other hand we are talking about conservative states who take money from liberal states for their welfare while whinging and complaining about their benefactors.

    That's the difference.

The article is about states spending FEDERAL money provided for welfare benefits.

When you consider federal spending strictly on social benefits then blues states are the takers.

    Nonsense

"The state's Medicaid program is the most expensive in the nation, driving the average cost of all government benefits in New York to $9,442 per person."

    http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/2011-04-26-new-york-government-aid.htm

This is the second time you have made a factual error in this thread.

And where does all the money for the state Medicaid program come from. Hint: It comes from the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Stop acting like NY State funds $9,442 per person. It is not true.
