and/or he's lowering expectations so much, that even taking 2 years to blow 10k will make him feel good. (instead of his projected 6-12 months)

Do you seriously believe he actually intends on losing $10K? It's a parody. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parody
Losing $10,000 is easy. But losing $10,000 without first making $10,000 IS the real challenge! In other words, if OP make 10K first while attempting to lose 10K, game over, mission not accomplished! This should certainly add some spice to this challenge and render the game fair and interesting...
Starting tomorrow I'll be on the hunt for the perfect opportunity to lose the right way. I found these trading rules while scouring the internet looking for a trading plan. You can bet I won't be interested in following any of them! These 10 Trading Rules Will Make You Rich And can you imagine that if we did have access to such a device as this how sad the human race would be if we did use it for such inane purposes?
Fastest way to lose money trading : find an existing trend somewhere and bet against it day and night. Keep adding to your losing positions until your broker sends Joey "the butcher" to collect your huge margin calls.
I tried real hard today to find something somewhere where I could risk losing some $$$, but try as I might I was unable to pull the trigger without a proper set-up, and my set-ups just were not there today. And I won't be able to trade tomorrow morning, so I kept telling myself, "Just do it - buy something, short anything, chase everything, you need to trade right now! Today!" Even now that the morning has wound down, I kept telling myself, "No! Don't shut your platform down! Maybe today is the day you'll find something to trade in the afternoon! Maybe today you'll discover a new type of set-up!" But I couldn't stop myself - with no open positions, and the noon hour upon me, my hand, seemingly of its volition, willed itself to grasp the mouse, slide the cursor to "File" then clicked on "Exit" and then it was "Bye, bye, IB ... Bye, bye Trade Architect." I just couldn't get it done today - definitely a discipline-related issue.
