Totally disagree. WHy should your p&l matter to the number of monitors?!! Listen, if you are making "only 1k" a day but need 10 monitors, whats the big deal? At least they are bringing in some serious cash (200k/year.) The number of monitors ONLY depends on your trading style and what you look at. Not the amount of money you are trading with. If you are earning 100k with 2 monitors, i doubt suddenly that trader is going to all of a sudden buy 2 more monitors cause he earned it or "need it." They probably are going to use a 2 monitor setup for years to come if it works for them. I don't know about you guys, but laughing at someone making money in this market.. well look in the mirror first.
i'm using one. just started making bucks. can't wait to set up more. have been vascillating between 2 or 4 lcd's. 2 is probably fine.
My point was more along the lines of why waste money where you don't necessarily need to on extra computers when you can achieve the same by just adding a monitor or 2. Also, for someone at the beginning of their journey as a trader, is it actually wise to spend money on multiple machines when they can possibly do better with a single keyboard and mouse controlling (thus making things simpler to operate) while still having the advantage of a sepparate screen for the trading platforms (which is after all the purpose of a second computer in this scenario), and while preserving more of their capital for the actual business of trading/ learning to trade. Since when did good business sense make someone a piker? Best Natalie
Man, we are arguing over the # of monitors that OTHER people use. I don't know about u guys, but i need to get a life!
1 Montor dedicated to ES/NQ/QQQ/SPY and all short term indicators 1 Monitor dedicated to All DOW componets and a few tech heavy weights 1 Monitor dedicated to news source 1 Monitor dedicated to Execution platform and OpenBooks 1 Monitor dedicated to Chatroom 1 Monitor dedicated to YM at different time frames 1 Monitor dedicated to Bonds and other interest rates 1 Monitor dedicated to research or ongoing project of things I am learning nitro
Natalie... There is another reason to have 2 computers. It is so that you have no other programs on the computer that goes to your broker. Makes the connection more persistent and secure if you have nothing else running on it. It is not expensive. We all upgrade eventually. I do it every 2 years. So I reformat the older computer and just install just the brokerage software on it. Cathy
That makes sense Cathy. It's certainly the case that the more software installed even the slower the machine gets. I increased the speed of my machine recently by removing all the unused programs and using a clean up program to remove all the rubbish they left behind as well. made a huge difference to the effectiveness of my machine. best Natalie
