Here at Elitetrader.com I do remember early in the Pandemic, many members stating that the Pandemic was started for political reasons with the help of the Democrats. Some members here supported the notion that it was a Democratic Hoax. Many of these members are still here at ET spreading misinformation / disinformation and the silent ones would just click the "like" button on their message posts as if they're giving them full support for the bullshit rhetoric. They actually defended Operation Warp Speed while Trump was still President as a solution to defeat their political enemies. That was a big contradiction and conflict because it showed they supported vaccines but felt that Covid was either not real or overestimated as in no more than a bad FLU. On the flip side, Democrats didn't trust the development of Covid vaccines because of the politics quickly being involved and the hypocrisy from the anti-science. Simply, because of the bullshit in the United States, a distrust for Covid vaccines was quickly growing in other countries along with their own problems in fighting Covid. Trump loses the election and the flood gates open with misinformation / disinformation on social media including here at Elitetrader.com in which the politics reversed. Yet, now there are real reasons along with the political bullshit for the Vaccine Hesitancy. Yet, there's no science to the reasons for the vaccine hesitancy and some are not logical in their risk analysis even when people are losing friends and loved ones to Covid for not being vaccinated. Unfortunately, we also had a handful of active members here at ET that either made threats to harm other ET members, threats to create multiple aliases for the purpose to troll other members, hijacked trading threads with Covid misinformation or created misinformation threads not in the political section. They don't understand that they are in fact a threat to the recovery of their online community and a threat to their community at home from this Pandemic. That's when I saw a lot of ET members begin to fight back against the misinformation / disinformation about Covid, Pandemic, and the Vaccines. ET was not alone...many social media platforms begin to fight back but they had a part in allowing the misinformation / disinformation to get out of control for the sake of views, clicks and profits from advertisement dollars. Simply, social media sold its soul to the devil. In many ways, one could blame the ET management for allowing this to continue for so long to a point where members are taking it personally. Covid will be with us for many years due to the above when it didn't need to. It's now deep seated into the woes of society instead of society as a collective coming together to defeat Covid. The sad part, if another Variant of Concern comes along that's more deadly and can easily get around the defenses of the vaccines...we're fucked as a society because the bullshit misinformation / disinformation was allowed to continue for so long on all sides of the fences. The bad news, governments are now panicking because of all the bullshit when Delta Variant hit us. They then started using mandates because of that panic when they saw too many people unwillingly to do their civic duty to the society as a whole to end the Covid threat. The good news...the mandates are working in declining Infections, Hospitalization, ICU admissions, and Deaths. Most importantly, mandates have improved peoples chances at survival if a fully vaccinated person has a breakthrough Covid infection. Most importantly of all, we've given more protection to our children especially those that can not be vaccinated. Simply, we're protecting the future generation against the assholes of today. Yet, real world threats are now becoming more frequent because of the mandates and they'll probably be minimized the longer we can keep the Covid numbers declining to a point that we can say "they're low" in comparison to when the Delta Variant hit us. Unfortunately, many more people will die because of real world threats due to this society of humans being unhealthy in mind, body and spirit. wrbtrader
We still see regular posts to the effect that once everyone who is vulnerable to Covid-19 is dead, the herd thinned, it will be better for the economy and the poster's pocket. Well now.. I just learned my aunt, 87, was very ill last week for four days with Covid but seems to be recovering, her son 52 is just over the hump, his wife just normal cold level and daughter (11) also. They live in the same house. All Pfizer vaccinated except the girl, my aunt's carer (40s) brought it into the house. They never thought to ask her if she was vaccinated. All apologies, she said she was "scared" bla bla but is getting vaccinated now. They never thought to ask as obviously, who would work as a carer for an elderly woman and she's been with them three years. So she was wearing a mask however showing initial symptoms one day before she stopped coming. Very close contact obviously with my aunt, moving her etc. She would be on manslaughter charges most likely without the vaccine protecting my aunt who was still very unpleasantly ill. I asked, not afraid of needles, it was misinformation she swallowed made her 'scared'. FFS.
This story highlights a missing key vaccination verification for the elderly. I'm talking about elderly individuals that still live at home and have a caregiver. The elderly or the family needs to have a way to verify the caregiver is in fact fully vaccinated. Here in my province, about 28% of the Covid deaths associated with the elderly since vaccination had begun have been elderly individuals that live at home...they also have a caregiver that's not fully vaccinated...that then decided to keep their vaccination status (not vaccinated) a secret or they lied about being vaccinated. People need to have a way to ensure the caregiver is fully vaccinated beyond a document that can easily be faked. That caregiver should be arrested for assault, shamed and never allowed to work as a caregiver again. wrbtrader
The crazy thing is this happened on my dad's side of the family, in Ireland. Facebook largely has spread American or made for America in China/Russian fever swamp anti-vax-Q-insanity extremism to the world. The proxy war between the same gang is spilling over everywhere. Irish people (and UK) used to be very intolerant of the thick as pigshit type people Americans tolerated for years before Facebook was invented. But now prideful, often boastful ignorance is becoming common there also. I do think however that the sentiment in the country is still that Facebook should be banned as a terrorist organisation. Carers are a head scratcher, they do seem to have been the cause of a lot of death and one wonders how many can have judgement that can be trusted. In this case the woman is paid very well. In the family WhatsApp group last night pretty much everyone was furious and of course embarrassed that some assumed the 40s age carer had vaccinated herself. I guess its not a job that attracts the very brightest and over time many forget the standards they might have started out with.
