Here is some loss porn for you all...Had a short position jump 80% over night due to buyout news and of course my SL got triggered waaaaaay beyond what it was set at this morning at the height of the jump. Lost $3,800...just add that to the, i dont know, like $10k i lost last month on retarded options plays. Days like this make me want to throw in the towel, go work a 9-5, slowly start balding with a perma-grimace on my face because i know my wife is banging the neighbor, get divorced and live off of frozen "hungry man" dinners until i die of a heart attack in front of the TV watching Fraiser reruns at the ripe old age of 55. Usually when i suck at something i want to be good at...i work hard, get better, and eventually do quite well with it. Trading just isnt quite going that well for me...I may actually suck more now than when i started. Going now to play marco polo in the bathtub with my microwave.
14000 * 1.12^20 = ~$140k, almost enough to retire permanently in Thailand or Panama. yeah - that's sitting in QQQ for 20 years... trading is complete waste of time. and the much bigger is the opportunity cost.
If it was easy everyone would be doing it... don't throw the microwave in the bathtub just yet. There's always a learning curve and obstacles. Don't beat yourself up over losers and likewise you shouldn't get excited about winners. Treat it like a business! Regarding your Stop Loss, understand that Stop orders when triggered turn into market orders and you will get filled at best price available but you might not like the fill... especially true in thin markets. Who's your neighbor?
it's not a 'business' if the expectancy is negative after commission and slippage. don't treat it like a 'business'.... get treated for this addition, or delusion.
%% That; + IBD newspaper uses a put call ratio@ bottom of only one chart......BUT i so seldom look @ it; i could easy, never miss it. OCT tends to be superStrong, except last OCT; but OCT is usually a ''bear killer'' ,
Get a bottle of your favorite wine and go watch tiktok cringe videos until you feel better. After I lost ~10% on a really stupid play this made me feel considerably better. Personally I'd recommend Married...With Children but I guess Fraiser is ok. I'm in the same boat right now. I've been trading options seriously for around a year now (spent another 2 just reading theory...that seemed like a bit of a mistake) and I've gotten better, but I still make really stupid plays. I just try to limit my losses, be aware of my headspace, and keep my day job so I can keep refilling my account with money that would otherwise be spent on booze or motorcycles (I already have 3 and boy a S1000RR is tempting...). Give me a PM if you ever want to chat.
