I would have to test that my system execution code works with the new broker API for a day or two. But i consider this software/code testing, i dont consider this paper trading a strategy, which i think is a waste of time. I do this currently when i make a major code change to my algo. You always have to test code changes incase you have broken something. Typically i use the live IB platform for testing new code as well. I just set the transmit=false flag so the API order pops up in TWS but doesnt go to the exchange.
Lost -4729GBP (6242USD) today. Current drawdown from High Water Mark is approx 19000 GBP (25000 USD), and has lasted 4 months and 1 week.
Lost -3031 GBP today (4000 USD). Still in drawdown So far I have had 39 losing days this year -5530 -3130 -756 -4379 -265 -2732 -4187 -2058 -4974 -103 -2807 -2766 -3243 -4107 -3778 -5209 -3513 -8699 -4668 -4920 -1842 -1988 -3402 -7001 -3063 -3710 -1787 -5353 -3560 -2187 -8155 -6249 -2959 -2959 -1464 -4683 -2186 -4729 -3031
Lost -1263GBP (1700 USD) yesterday Current drawdown from high equity water mark is about 20,000 GBP (26K USD) This current drawdown is now 5 months long as it began in early May. Looking at the back test there were 4 drawdown periods that have were longer than this current one: 6 months in 2005 9 months in 2007 7 months in 2011 9 months 2012 So i could be near the end of this draw down, or i could suffer for another 5+ months and this could be longest drawdown on record.
Using a 1% bet fraction per trade: 6 months in 2005 was 11% 9 months in 2007 was 17% 7 months in 2011 was 16% 9 months in 2012 was 18% Current drawdown went 10% deep at its lowest. In reality i bet more aggressively than 1%, so i was down more than 10%.
Really, I don't understand your goal here. You better focus on your edge / competitive advantage rather than try to measure how deep you can go. Because you can go deeper and deeper if you don't break this vicious circle. Success is achieved by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses. Marylin Vos Santos CM
