In Chicago only 3% of public education students end up with a 4 year collage degree.

The problem must be the homework...

Public education should be abandoned. Public schools are so corrupt they should all be closed. The voucher system and private shcools is the only system that has a chance of saving the education of America's children.

Why does the US need higher education?

We've killed engineering, aerospace, the space industry, most manufacturing. We've exported most design work, most fabrication and almost all of the heavy industries like shipbuilding and steel making. The federal government is working hard to kill Boeing and the airline industry with the NLRB and the TSA giving an assist.

So, who needs the difficult math/science degree?

Lets make things easier on these kids, after all they're just going to grow up to become welfare recipients anyway since there will be nowhere to work. Why make their young lives difficult?

Besides, anyone in LA with a brain goes to private school for highschool and private University and sends their kids to the same.

And even some of the public universities in LA will crush those people who show up unprepared. UCLA is notoriously difficult. UC Irvine is really tough too.

Look, somebody has to run the deep-fryer. Somebody has to mow my lawn. Somebody has to trim the bushes and pick up the trash. Los Angeles is providing future trashmen and gardeners for the entire country. We used to supply PhD engineers but no matter. Its the new economy! :D

My brother's wife used to teach in a heavily Hispanic school district in Texas. She told me that more than half the children were classified as "special needs" (you know, the euphemism for "retarded"). I said that either a lot of those kids were misclassified or else we had better start a eugenics program real soon. One mother complained that my sister in law was assigning too much homework -- her darling child didn't have enough time left to watch all the television shows he wanted to watch.

The Democrats are eager to give citizenship to the millions of such people who are in this country illegally. Why? Because they're dumb enough to vote for Democrats.

  6. On the flip side, I was surprised to hear of a failing school with very few kids classified as "special needs". You know why? Because all the kids would meet the requirements as learning disabled and secondly, the school couldn't provided the resources for "all" of them.

Parochial, private schools stay small for a reason, they do not want the mandates required by the state to educate the learning disabled.

You have to wonder if they have actually stopped and thought about what they are doing. Scrap that, just thinking will do!

In order for a student to learn more effectively they need individual attention. How are we going to even come close to giving them individual attention when some bureaucrat in the state capitol is deciding what every classroom should teach?

The system is not scalable. I've come to decide that my k-12 education here was largely a waste of time.
