Just to reiterate, I have no financial interest or arrangement with the book, its author or publisher. The book was very enlightening...for me. A few things- The book triggered the trader in me, and from there I helped myself to become a better trader. No book will ever make you a successful trader. I'd like to quote a new and controversial member here on ET, "it is how the method is applied". I'm pleased that many of you enjoyed the Ramoutar Report 11 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29956 I'm sorry that I have not been able to reply to all of the PMs in a timely fashion, but I will reply to all of them. For those of you that want to pick up the book, I don't know if it's still in print. Last I heard it wasn't, but I found it on AMZN http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...103-0665448-5799068?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Last...there's only one chapter of the book I don't agree with at all: Chapter 4: Hanging Out In the Present In this chapter the author makes it "very" clear that charts are a waste of time... Excerpt from p.19 - "Charts are total gibberish. They have no validity. They are simple history, and like history if we continue to study them we will probably commit the same of errors of the past. History does not repeat itself. Neither in the stock market nor anywhere else. " With all due respect Mr Toppel, "I" believe those statements are total "gibberish." Again, this book (as with any book) has many qualities, and several downfalls.
I think eSignal is a superior platform. The charts and onboard scanners are in depth and very useful. I use eSignal charts for all of my scanning, and I will use screenshots from the eSignal platform.
In 1995 I cut my teeth in SOES / day trading with PC Quote, which later became Stuart Townsend's RealTick. In the summer of 2003 I switched over to eSignal and I've always thought of it as a superior platform. Beyond the technology I feel comfortable with the management team and the customer/tech support. The charts and onboard scanners are in depth and very useful. I use eSignal charts for all of my scanning, and I will use screenshots from the eSignal platform.
The author has a website at: http://www.samuraitrader.com Like RAMOUTAR wrote, I have no connection with the author what so ever... Talking about books, my all-time favorite on psychology are: 21 irrefutable truths about trading by john Hayden (his new book on RSI being published according to traderspress.com) http://www.traderspress.org/detail.asp?product_id=1706 Psychology of Risk by A. Kiev Zen Golf, mastering the mental game by Joseph Parent (I'm not a golfer, but his writings can be used for non-golf stuff too...) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...9927601/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/104-5918762-5394331 Thanks.
My sincerest thanks for your well thought out, inspirational posts. I have been trading for two decades and STILL fall into the trap of not predeterminating my risk. It's so hard to keep the ultimate faith..you can only win by losing.
Thanks for the info. I bought Hayden's book, but haven't read it yet (now I will). Zen in Golf. Hmm? I'd like to look at that one also. Funny how I'll be looking for my ball and Zen in golf! Thanks et_user
I have no opinion of the book, but my first impression of the site is....SNAKEOIL. I could be wrong .
