Computers go on the Outlet site for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's just because somebody ordered several but took only partial delivery. The others go to Outlet. The only material differences between the Outlet and Retail sites.... (1) Computers are taken "as is" (any modifications are up to you after you receive your unit), and (2) you generally save $200-$400.... but sometimes a LOT more. However, Dell is notorious for marking up the upgrades... large amount of RAM, high-end video cards and CPUs. Even on the Outlet site, a high-powered and/or with extra bells and whistles unit can still be overpriced.
