I ran #s on PortfolioVisualizer, which shows positive results (great website, btw if you aren't familiar with it). Have you done any trading based on VIX SMA indicators? If so, with positive results?

Not me but there are a few traders here at this forum that uses the VIX the way you've described it.

You should use the search function (upper right of the forum) to try to locate them. They are old posts and the members may still be active here.

You could peruse many moving average threads and prioritize a list of likely suspects to look into. Say maybe shoot for a dozen methods, prioritize 'em, put a few hours into each of the top three on the list. See what shakes out.
