Morning ben, here is the link. When u come in just introduce yourself. I’ll say hi once I see u. A lot of the members are from different time zone so it might be a while once u hear from them. I’m in the us and we are in the same time zone. https://chat.whatsapp.com/I412nXP5eP821vaRjdYaip
Trading is not a team sport, so I don't understand the need for a trading partner. I like trading because I can work alone. I answer to no one. ET is great because it allows anonymity but I do have many great trading "buddies" here. I keep my trading life and social life separate. None of my family members, friends know too much about my trading and no one on ET knows me socially. You have an interesting start and a great future. I wouldn't mine exchanging general ideas with you on this open forum or an occasional PM. Best wishes and have a good day.
Thank u for the comment. I created this thread last year and it probably popped up on your radar because someone recently posted in it. I Used the wrong word when I created the thread. I was more or less looking for full time traders to talk to. I see value in being able to talk to other professional traders both to generate trading ideas, learn, and for the lonely aspect of this profession. Like u, I don’t share anything about my job with people that I know in real life. For the same reasons as u, I like how I can be anonymous on et, I Use et as an outlet because Most people do not understand what us traders go through. I feel that I’m getting close to my end game and I’m not interested in spending more time to work on trading. I will continue to work on what I already know and try to improve but I can’t see myself doing 60-80 hours a week for another decade. I read some of your post and we have more in common than u know. If u are interested in joining a group chat that I’m in now with WhatsApp let me know. If u want to keep in connect through here via private chat I’m open to that as well. Have a great day.
The key is you have to compound your profits over time, net of living expenses, then you either automate or move to longer time frame and swing, more flexible. Should extend your trading career that way and like me, you can spend more time reading ET posts.
I wish I can automate. I know nothing about programming. I’ve been doing this for a lot time and the main difference now compared to 6-7 years ago is that I’m working a lot now because I want to and not because I have to. im doing everything u mentioned besides automation. I have money in traditional and Roth IRA, vanguard index funds, muni bonds, growth funds, real estates, investments accounts, I swing and day trade equity, and options as well. But I don’t have as much as I would like allocated to long term investing. This will change within 2-3 years. If u can swing trade longer term and get the kid of returns u are happy with my hats is off to you. For me, I can’t imagine a scenario where I can allocate a good amount to longer term swing because I feel I can’t control market risks as well. Also, Because I won’t allocate a good portion to longer term swing trading, I wouldn’t get the returns I’m happy with. I still love trading as much as I did when I placed my first trade/investment back in 2003-2004. I have a family now and is getting older so I’ll probably cut down to 30-40 hours a week soon.
