By your response to H-Iceberg you really are showing how little you know as well as this post above. A hedge fund is not going to waste time (and especially money) running a strat to see how it does in sim. Just not going to happen. Keep coffee shop dreaming - its free other than the drink and a croissant or two.
Unless you do 6-12 months of forward testing, backtesting alone is not enough. I have dozens of systems that has great returns in backtesting but forward testing they don't come close to the past. Hedge funds doubtful of buying a system. They have staff to come up with systems. Always better to keep what you have and go it alone.
Where did you get this idea from that brokers might reverse-engineer the strategy? IMO it would be very exceptional if this strategy (if it even works in real life) will keep working un-revised, and every broker knows this..
Focus on the number to the far right of your handle, not the closest one. It's your Q:Q ratio Maybe use as little $ as possible, run the system live yourself for a year, come back here and rub it in my face, if it works. I'll humbly apologize if you land there
@Handle123, you're my first choice if you wanna try this. We got a saying in Romanian "bate șaua să priceapă iapa", beat the saddle so the mare gets it. I know you kinda old and millionaire already but I wanna make it to billionaire. And it follows a few logical steps: smart enough to devise a scheme that might achieve that, psychopathic enough so they will follow the scheme no matter the distractions and deviations. Why I wanna be a billionaire? Religion. I'll die eventually but if I can nudge the current timeline into making time travel possible, I'm not dead, merely frozen in time. They will come for me in the future eventually, a future which only exists if I manage to create it. And you know what manages to move the timeline of a future from hopeless to maybe? Energy. A quadrillion trillion quadrillions of money. My projected contribution of a billion is a very modest start in the compounding that will lead to the avoidance of the annihilation of our universe. So what you say of trying to reach a billion together? No strings attached, I'll do with mine as scheduled, you can do whatever with yours, I don't care.
I learned long ago the hard way, never have partners. Second, people who concentrate on making millions seldom make it and end up broke and they take down others. I wish you well.
What are draw downs, what instrument, what is the expectancy? How long is forward test and how much does it deviate from backtest? Was backtest automated ? I know a thing or two about backtests and can poke holes in the strategy for fun. PM me if interested.
I've had opportunities to sell my strats to HF's (one of them a very well known firm). I have some strats that make around 10% annualized with sharpe greater than 3.0. And other strats that make more than 50% annualized with sharpes of around 1.5 to 1.8. I've been trading these with real money for years. Problem is these firms want a free look at the algo before the first meeting or during the first meeting. They will offer to sign NDA's but that is worth less than used toilet paper. Once they've seen your algo, they'll steal it guaranteed and there's no way to police it. Just trade it yourself and be the turtle, not the hare
Did you say you want to sell your $10 million strategy in 10 years now to a hedge fund for $10,000,000? This site js pure comic relief. Also I did an experiment and created a scalping system and backtested it showing huge annual gains over 300%. When I realized it didn't account for slippage the adjustment to the program resulted in a net loss everytime. Backtests are shit...you need real money trading it over a period of time to have proof of concept. No intelligent investor will pay for a hypothetical backtested program without slippage and commissions or real experience.
