Now that they're gone and perhaps you're thinking, "wish I'd jumped on that".... Suggest you search for other deals on this model. Dell Precision T5810 Workstation was Dell's "top of the line single socket" machine when in current production. I've used Dell Workstations exclusively for ~15 years.... and currently have 4x of these T5810s. I routinely expect 10+ years of life from Dell Precisions, so buying a used one for 80% off the original price is a good deal. Even my laptop is a Precision... 9 years old, still running "smooth as a gravy sandwich", though slow compared to today's hardware. If you want something REALLY SPIFFY, check out the T5820... but you won't find any of them for no $300. FWIW...
I see some of these on Amazon in the $400 range or so. The ones below are $347.79 I would rather buy from Amazon than Ebay but that's just me. Amazon.com: Dell Precision T5810 Workstation | Intel Xeon E5-1603 v3 | 16GB DDR4 | 512GB Solid State Drive SSD | Nvidia Quadro K420 2GB | Windows 10 Pro (Renewed): Computers & Accessories The T5820 looks like a winner. $800 or so refurbished.
Bought one and plan on upgrading the processor, storage, and memory. The machine will be used for backtesting and research. Thanks
Available again? When I click on your link it says 5 available. Couple of questions - how old are these units do you think? I see you mention you routinely expect to get 10+ years out of a Dell Precision. Also will the graphics card that comes with it power a 4k monitor at the full 60hz? Thanks, -Guru
From Nvidia's website will drive up to four 4k monitors (4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz). Based on age of processor looks like boxes are 5-8 years old. I have two Dell boxes (consumer line) that are still kicking after 13 years (thank god kids use old crap) and run fine. Joel
Was sold out when I checked. Looks like he got more to sell. These units were likely put into service in 2016-2017, but can't tell until you check out "system" or Service Tag. My Precision laptop had first been put into service only 18 months before I got it. Yes, video card is very capable. CPU is 2016 vintage.
I just clicked and they are showing another 5 available at the moment. The Amazon one FortuneTeller posted comes with a 3 year Dell warranty, and I don't see one for the EBay one, so that is a nice add on.
