Well if you can justify a $6K desk, get one of these minus the illuminators:

I don't know anything about monitors. When ordering LCDs, are the ultrasharps really worth the extra money?
maybe they're just brighter with 1000:1 contrast ratios...you need to define what they mean by ultra-sharp...gnome would know..
I have Ultrasharps, but I'm not sure. One thing I am sure of..... skimping on monitors is "penny wise and pound foolish". Your eyes and brain are worth something beyond money.
Actually, no. "Ultrasharp" is probably just a brand logo. I have them but don't know whether they are any better. (Actually, the sharpest images I have are from an el-cheapo KOGi, 17", LCD which runs off of "integrated Intel Graphics driver"... who woulda thunk it?) Maybe it all boils down to personal preference..... ?? It's probably worth the effort to go to a big retail computer store and check out the LCDs first hand.... I prefer Micro Center because they have the sense to realize that not every montitor should be shown at the same resolution... that is, the 15" LCDs should be shown at 1024x768 and the 17" & 19" LCDs should be shown at 1280x1024.
Ultrasharp... probably just a marketing thing. But, the picture is ultra sharp to me Amazing quality. Wish I had purchased an LCD a long time ago. They are getting so much cheaper. Good stuff though, have been able to look at the screen with no problems, eyes don't hurt or anything, I think my eyes are adjusted already.
Monitor Acquisition Disorder (MAD Warning) Does someone you know seem MAD after trading all day with less than 3 screens? MAD begins by a reasonable desire to move from an old dirty, dim, and heavy CRT to an LCD... Then 2 more, smaller sometimes, one LCD on the left and another on the right to balance the 'main' screen. (Think of it as saving on the electric bill... We must all do our part to conserve. Right?) Then 3 more on top to make 6. How about this 10240x3072 pixel baby?? http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/13/virginia-techs-24-display-workstation/ Is there a MAD 12 step program? Intervention? A fund to help MAD traders acquire more monitors? Plenty of work here.... What is the role of government in helping MAD traders? Where can I find the latest discount coupon for Dell to buy more monitors????
