    As if it could not get any stranger....

    The reason the Sanford commissioners did not accept Police Chief Lee's resignation is so that they can await the results of a Federal investigation into the conduct of his department.

    The town is still not restoring Lee to his active role but is hiring an interim police chief (who would want this job?)

    It appears that they want to be able to fire Lee with cause to avoid paying four months severance, and that they also want to ruin his future career by firing him with cause (which makes him unemployable in Florida) rather than letting him resign.
