Hi Mom0/pH0x, ''Consored'' should have been ''censored''. Apologies for this. Still trying to master English I do not feel a victim of biased reporting. European media reported that American media had reported that Ahmadinejad called for ''wiping out / off Israel of the map'' while he had been visiting one of US universities. I remember watching talking heads on CNN who were angry with Ahmadinejad for calling on American soil to wipe out / off Israel. The matter of fact is US media put in guy's mouth words he didn't say. And by no means in my previous post did I want to glorify Ahadinejad. Regards A below documentary shows how biased US media can be. There are niuances shown between CNN and BBC. <embed id="VideoPlayback" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=-6604775898578139565&hl=pl&fs=true" style="width:400px;height:326px" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always"
And Arab/Islamic television is not biased? It makes US media look like Mother Teresa or Gandhi in comparison...
Hello TraderZones, I never watched Arab television for a simple reason that I would not understand a sigle word. I can however within my limited competences of English compare BBC (UK) to CNN (US) and the comparison is not favourable for US media. I think that the quality of US media have been deteriorating gradually over time, which concerns me. Regards
American TV NEWS by and large is a commercial product. US is geographically separated from Europe/Middle East and there is a serious sense of cultural isolationism. By and large people care about their own livelyhood. In Europe, it is impossible to live in france and not be aware of what goes on in germany or even uk for that matter. Here in the US, overwhelming majority of people would not be able to tell you the names of prime minister of Italy, Chancellor of Germany or President of France. It is not by an evil design. People in the US by and large don't give a shit about palestinian issue.
Hi IShopAtPublix, It may be true that people in the US do not give a shit about Palestinians. It may also be true that they would have given a shit, if they had been informed by the media objectively. I mean their political choices may have been different. People in the US also do not give a shit about Latin America: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pnhmq9Hl0qY&hl=pl&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pnhmq9Hl0qY&hl=pl&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hxnNXyDkiKs&hl=pl&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hxnNXyDkiKs&hl=pl&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I think that if the US people had been informed objectively by the media, they would have never elected Bush. Really? BBC confesses bias on religion, politics An internal British Broadcasting Corporation memo reveals senior figures admitted the national news agency was guilty of promoting left-wing views and anti-Christian sentiment. News of the memo, reported by British media, comes as the BBC continues to struggle against claims of biased reporting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and distorted coverage of the global fight against terror, reports the Israeli YnetNews.com. The admissions of bias were made at a recent "impartiality" summit the BBC held. Most executives admitted the corporation's representation of homosexuals and ethnic minorities was unbalanced and disproportionate, YnetNews.com said. The British news agency, the report said, leaned too strongly towards political correctness, the overt promotion of multiculturalism, anti-Americanism and discrimination against the countryside. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52574 THE BBC is institutionally biased, an official report will conclude this week. The year-long investigation, commissioned by the BBC, has found the corporation particularly partial in its treatment of single-issue politics such as climate change, poverty, race and religion. The BBC Trust, which oversees complaints to the British state broadcaster, has ruled that coverage of Israel in an article on the BBC's Web site and a radio broadcast by its Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen was partially inaccurate and that aspects of the Internet article lacked impartiality. 6 Month Analysis of the BBC: The Subtle Bias...No other international media outlet elicits as many complaints of bias from our readers as the BBC. Lest we forget that the word "terrorist" is no longer part of their vocabulary. People blowing up women and children in pizza parlors and restaurants are "militants", not "terrorists" according to the BBC. Try again, buddy.
Hi a_person: You quoted 5 sources; 3 were Jewish (Jerusalem Post, Israeli News and HonestReporting - all have their addresses in Israel), which by their nature will be anti-Palestinian and will be biased. I do not know the fourth source: WorldNetDaily. I suspect they are okay. The fourth source was timesonline, owned by Murdoch (a competitor of BBC, a close friend of Ariel Sharon and some claim a Zionist). Let me quote what they wrote: ''THE BBC is institutionally biased, an official report will conclude this week.'' Please a_person, show me this official report and then we can talk about the facts. You wrote ''Lest we forget that the word "terrorist" is no longer part of their vocabulary.'' This is a news from 7 hours ago: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/8023973.stm Words ''terrorist / terrorism'' is used 14 times in a short article. A-person you stop joking Warm regards to you as usual.
