Look like ET could not keep many old members actively posting anymore. Why?

  1. Not sure why you would say that. I get trades just about everyday.

  2. " EliteTrader.com is a group of financial traders that help each other work through the tough and lonely journey of trading profitably. Our members learn faster, develop new relationships, and avoid costly mistakes through daily collaboration. "

Just wondering whether promoting "Financial Trading - A Most Competitive Game on Earth" is a good idea, in order to attract many more new members to join in and try active trading.

Many people would like the challenge of a Competitive Game to offer. Not necessary winning much money, which is just a bonus.

Who doesn't want to join in playing one of the most competitive games on earth? :D:

  3. I believe there are basically two kinds of people who hangout at ET (or any other trading forum) ...either pikers/amateurs/failures/borderline failures, or people who are vendors/sellers/scammers/bored trolls.

If you are neither, or ultra successful, or just semi-successful...I can't imagine you would hangout or want to spend your day or time here alot. There are so many other ways to enjoy life, or put your time to better use.

  4. Many investors do pay regular membership fees for joining investing websites! Not cheap !

There are some elements worth for traders to join a traders website. Such as fat figure events, flesh crash events, black swan events, mis-pricing events, trading journals (just like blog), exchange problems, trading platform problems, talking/checking about a retail broker like IB, complaints about a broker, etc.

BTW, what else a trader would do after trading? What are the web sites for traders as a community? If ET is not the best one. Perhaps someone should start thinking about it! :D:

Forums should have useful values, just like many other public forums.

Two things I hear people say:

    1. 'All the old good traders are gone.'
    2. 'This place is full of noobz and idiots. Im out of here. Bye everyone.'

Dont be that person. Be the trader you aspire to be. Those elite traders that once frequented this forum left behind an opportunity for you. It can be your moment to step up and be the trader that everyone else values and respects.

If your goal is to be a great trader then start behaving like a great trader. Start now. Make your next post on this forum a useful one. Help one of the new guys out, or even just post something about yourself. Like something you have struggled with and overcome.

    Good luck.

Which of the two kinds are you? Certainly 2,500 posts counts as 'hanging out.' ;)

those who have something to say on the subject of trading already said it, and said it, and said it...

the truth does not change, neither the questions....

realistically after a while there is nothing to talk about unless one wants to repeat oneself over and over

When I started really getting into trading the best thing we had was Yahoo forums(lame) and you couldn't find anything of value outside of Market Wizards. Traders in this era have the opposite problem - information overload - to much info, to many books, to many web sites.

I think us older traders had it easier - we did not have all the noise, all the info overload. It forced us to be creative, independent thinkers, & our own problem solvers.
