Electric makes sense, I can't speak about the viability of the technology for aircraft but can you imagine sky full of gas turbine engines? I can't, the noise would be like an airport, just 1000 times worse.

Why are you that certain? I don't care either way, it'll be interesting but I've been on an airplane before.

Good thing it's self-flying, because look at how many accidents happen on the roads because people are either irresponsible or bad drivers.

Is it true that the rednecks in the South fire on drones, that is other people's drones for target practice ?
Can a pilot fire back ?
Maybe a good ole 0.5 calibre mounted up front ?
Nail a few rednecks, squirrels and other .............before lunch.

It takes orders of magnitude more energy to lift and move a vehicle through the air. This becomes exponentially exacerbated when said stored energy is heavier than its alternatives. Electric vehicles have been around for what, 120+ yrs? And we've barely gotten to the point where it doesn't take a truck bed full of batteries to go a reasonable distance.

I'll remain skeptically pessimistic, even though in the flying model arena, electric planes have similar range to gas. It just seems like a concept to get some publicity going.

Still, publicity means more funding, and more funding often (though I admit, not nearly always) means a further development of technology.
