When you guys say "low commissions" how low are they for prop traders? I'm paying 0.005c per share, is this high for scalping?

  3. $0.005 per share is average retail. I've heard of something like $0.0005 per share after ecn rebates, but that was several years ago and on crazy volume like 5,000,000 shares per month (it may have been more). I'm not sure which firm it was, it was a long time ago before a lot of automated trading. I might still have some literature from one of the Las Vegas Traders Expos buried somewhere...

Some brokers offer $3 trades up to 10,000 shares, which is $0.0003 per share, but you have to trade huge lot sizes to make them really worth while, and at least large orders to beat per share retail pricing. Good luck scalping huge lots with limit orders on US stocks...

Personally, I use more than one broker and more than one account...

  5. Same here, I can go about 20 days or so before a loosing day. Back in the day I traded in a group at Worldco where the group leader was able to go about 2 years straight of wining days. I thought that was unbelievable. Then he told me the guy who taught him can go 3 years plus making money every day. Yes I did see his P&L almost every day so I know it was true….

A lot of the guys that have posted really long win streaks tend to trade stocks. I'd like to know what's the largest win streak you've had or heard of in futures, especially index futures.
