Hello Hyperscalper, If you want approve the orders performances, change your server location for London. You can found 1.2 to 2ms latencies on LMAX server. With right location you can have 5ms of order complete processing. I don't think that FIX approve the performance... Regards
Hi, thanks for that info. Yes, you're right that moving to FIX would not change the latencies. However, our future plans to migrate to FIX are to improve control, recoverability and other functionality which is missing in the Java API, but which we can live with right now. So long as we are getting tight consistency on order latencies and are in the 50-70 msecs range, then that's all we need. After all, we are not trying to compete on speed alone, but use an Incremental Strategy which is layered on the performance and, most of all, positional trading requires knowledge of the trend, so most critical of all are the Micro Trend indicators which tell us which side of the market to take. As this is based upon Depth of Market Analysis, FIX on LMAX would also give us more tiers of visibility on the DOM as well for that purpose. I'm just saying that we are not "playing the game" of sheer raw speed, although that is one important factor in the trading platform and strategy. HyperScalper
Yeah, we are using hosteurope.de and hosteurope.ch I think they're the same organization for our servers. Already having a dedicated server in Germany fairly close to Dukascopy in Geneva; but if LMAX continues to be a bigger part of our business, a Dedicated Host in London is the next logical step. Got any good recommendations ? A VPS doesn't have the "horsepower" to run an X-Windows GUI. I tried, but its resource limiters were starving the software, so gave up. So we had to get a dedicated Quad Xeon box, a bit more money. HyperScalper
