http://t.co/HNrCQuzY This is a great podcast from last week with Livevol CEO Paul Finnegan. Very eye-opening. I think everyone will like it. Interesting to hear how they have become the "Intel" to every participant in the options world. They have alot of exciting stuff on the way. I am meeting with Livevol on Tuesday, if anyone has any particular questions, I'll do my best to get them answered.
I used LVP about 2 years ago and quite liked it, but for the product range it wasn't worth the price. If they added European stocks or US Futures Options i would probably get back in. Also, as much as i like the look & feel, in a graphic design sense I am an AAPL skeptic and i get the feeling that it lulls me into a false sense of control. False because i can't see ALL of the inputs and change the calculation methodology. The skew charts are nice but are only practically more useful (vs. the chain) in a small number of situations, but maybe that's because i'm not a pro. FWIW, when i was trialling with them 2yrs ago they told me that European equities were in the pipeline, so i carried on paying them for 6 months before they said that was no longer the case. Way to go.
Just excel, but nothing really complicated. Actually in some respects LVP was overkill for my level of activity. I would like to develop my own tools similar to Larry McMillan's data products, but more accurate and interactive.
If you use LiveVolX do you still have to pay the 250/mo for the LiveVol functionality or trade a particular amount of commissions? I thought I heard somewhere you needed to be a frequent trader to not pay those fees.
