I don't think grunge "killed" hair bands or synth-pop—it feels more like a natural evolution of music. Bands like Metallica and Depeche Mode thrived well into the '90s, proving these genres didn’t just disappear. Grunge brought a fresh vibe that resonated with a new generation, but it didn’t erase what came before

Yeah but Metalica and D mode weren't hair bands. But like I said the hair band era would have come to an end regardless. Sure was fun for that 15 or so years that it lasted.

I consider them so. Battle lines were pretty clearly drawn between fans of heavy metal and fans of hair bands in the 80's.

I was never a fan of Grunge. It was largely a revival of the British Punk scene in the late 1970s & early 1980s except it was more geared towards pop and not the underground. Like I said before Come As you Are is a ripoff of Sanity and Eighties by Killing Joke.

Synth Pop was good music and mediocre lyrics. The music part moved on to Rave (aka Hardcore), DnB & Trance. Vocals in Europe still exist with the Eurodance genre and to a certain extent Vocal Trance.

I'm not sure what really replaced Grunge. I guess there are still remnants of those bands still around like Green Day and others. Rock & Pop acts these days pretty much make all their money touring at outrageous prices so looks they're doing pretty good. Taylor Swift tickets at $1000+? I don't whose stupid enough to pay that money except spoiled brats from rich families.
