Ugh... I was with you up till this point. Unlike you, I've never met the guy but from everything I've seen and read the only thing he would represent a newbie is a great source of fades. And perhaps sheer entertainment (like watching a busker on the a streetcorner).
Hadn't thought about Dan Zanger in a while. Here's are some articles: http://www.investopedia.com/articles/trading/04/082504.asp http://www.investopedia.com/articles/trading/04/090904.asp And it looks like he'll also be featured next month in Active Trader Magazine His website http://www.chartpattern.com mentions his top trades but I couldn't find the link to his worse trades. LOL
I learned most from the thoughts of George Soros, Jim Rogers, Warren Buffett, Jesse Livermore, and Marc Faber. Btw I agree that the early Buffett was far better than his more famous later years. Buffett lost his touch a long time ago, not surprising since he's long since reached the age were mental abilities and energy start to deteriorate. Similar with Soros and anyone who gets over 60.
Can you study these guys though? I'd be interested if you have any material on Cohen & Simons that are available to study. Also don't forget many of the newer managers have returns cut on the 90s bull market. Making 20-30% a year in the 90s is a lot easier than from 2000-2010.
Warren Buffett is easy to study but I think the best course is "Trade Like Warren Buffett" (shameless self-promotion) which demonstrates that he is more of an active trader than a value investor. Stevie Cohen can be studied in the book "Stock Market Wizards" Jim Simons is more difficult but there are various online articles about him that are interesting. Carlo Cannell - I would seach on sec.gov for his filings to see which positions he's in and trades in and out of and why. Jim Cramer - "Confessions of a Street Addict" is a classic and well worth reading. "Supercash" (shameless self promotion, part II) also has a chapter "Trade Like a BIllionaire" which examines how you can piggyback the greats. Good luck!
Doug West, Kosoma Publishing. http://oiopro.com/cash/kosoma/daytrade.shtml From what I have read this guy is epic and will kick any of the guys listed in this forum on their ass. An e-mini expert. Charise Carter, Day Trading Queen. http://www.daytradingqueen.com/ This lady obviosly knows she is doing. I bet there isn't anyone in here that can't learn something from the Queen. This thread is now complete.
hahahaha... now that is funny... a guy who rarely trades with real money as he's too busy selling his secret (available free all over the net) system...and a woman that still has never used the system she touts live and sends out demo statements to her sheep and claims they are live trading statements.. yup this thread is NOW complete haha
