Right. Unless it the New Age stuff. But what if you just cut out the obvious crap that contains gluten and not the rest? Did you try that incrementally to feel better, or did you just throw out the baby as well? Not exactly. Flour just means that it's finely ground. It could be a gluten-free grain (or non-grain) as well.
We are going in circles here and we come back to the same conclusion. You don't want to eliminate gluten from your diet. That is fine. I don't see a benefit in trying to convince you nor do I try to convince anybody. I don't think you have a valid basis to justify gluten except for personal preference. Again that is fine, enjoy! I merely interject when invalid arguments are made to say there is nothing wrong with gluten. Since the 1970s the genetically modified wheat has produced a very tough protein strain of gluten that damages the intestinal lining which is the heart of the immune system. Thus the link between gluten issues and AI diseases or symptoms. I certainly have made desserts using almond flour and coconut oil and nut butters. When I said flour you knew what I meant.
Pubmed doesn't make it gospel. You can find material there on the special virtues of goji and noni juice, old darlings of MLM. Please do me a small favor. Read this brief and entertaining article written by a scientist who teaches chemistry, and is the head of the Office for Science & Society at McGill University, which is dedicated to separating sense from nonsense: https://montrealgazette.com/news/lo...ee-diets-and-the-mythologies-surrounding-them (I think I posted this link elsewhere in the past.)
There is nothing factual in this article because Djokovic's "nutritionist" is not a doctor and I agree that Wheat Belly goes overboard in its claims with little to no evidence on some of them. Don't cite alternative non medical practitioners to make a point. Also Djokovic's nutritionist is bullshit. The test is very simple. Eliminate gluten for several weeks strictly and then reintroduce it into teh diet and note changes in symptoms before and after. That is scientific. You are citing a quack example. Cmon....that was a pretty bad article to cite and the scientist only debunked a bullshit nutritionist. If that is your scientific proof we can just let this go.
Actually, I think he endeavored to debunk a bullshit wave cresting on the magic of placebo. At least among the majority of people who have only an imagined sensitivity. But yours may be real, and I should not discount the possibility. Anyway, you were right. We are going in circles.
But you should have easily seen from the article the doctor is debunking something that was already bullshit. If I write an article that said I threw butter at someone and it slid off them which proves they should do the keto diet, would you really need a medical degree to debunk that? Same thing in that article.
...while recognizing that the issue is real...for some segment of the population, but not everyone. But, sure, guilty as charged. Just that you seem to believe that gluten is necessarily bad for everyone, and I don't think the science supports such a sweeping claim.
Off topic : erythritol Ocho et al, Have you seen anything on erythritol purity? Love it; for baking with Al & coco flour; but I was wondering if it is pure (I picture "benzene" or some orther cheap solvent being used to make erythritol). I notice some erythritol sources are rather cheap & I am assuming it all comes from China (u know, where the "special" infant formula was made.)
